Doggie Workout with K9FITbone

A recent visit to the vet confirmed Mummy’s fears… Pecan ah ma’s body isn’t quite keeping up. #sheis12yearsoldnot12monthsoldma  While it isn’t falling apart just yet, her joints are starting to display signs of stiffness. #abouttimela The vet advised Mummy to minimise Pecan’s climbing of stairs and unnecessary jumping. Plus, should she show any signs of tiredness or reluctance to walk when we’re out, we should allow her to rest. #idothatallthetimehowcomemummystillmakemewalk #lifenofair Other than that, we were also sent home with the first of many bottles of glucosamine. To be honest, Pecan is really an energetic ah ma and she is way more active than I am. #iamnotlazy #iamjustchill In addition, Mummy has done a couple of steps to keep her active and healthy. Maintain lean weight –  Checked #hengispecannotme #elseminewilluncheckandiwillbeputonadiet #hengman Swimming – Checked. Despite that, Mummy is still a tad worried that her little body might not keep up with her in future. So, kiasu Mummy started doing some research on how else to strengthen her joints and muscles. And with the recommendation from …

Quickie Art and Craft

Jack Russell Mania (JRM) is turning 13 this July. #cannotbelievegotthingsolderthantheancientpecan To get us ready for the exciting celebrations, Mummy ordered two JRM bandanas just for us. #ithinkiwearitbetterthanher #shhhhhdonttellherIsaidthat Okay okay, I think we both look pretty cool in it.  However, once we take it off, we won’t able to differentiate which belong to who.  #ifIwearwronghow #hersissmellyleh #cosshesuredroolonit  So, we attempted to mark our own bandanas with our own saliva. #spotourlittletongues #howhygienichor Thankfully the crafty (pun intended) Mummy had something up her sleeves. It was a real quick fix.  All she used were Martha Stewart stencils, satin paint, a sponge brush and a plastic container. And viola~ our very own customised bandanas. Not only does it look (and smell) good, it took Mummy less than five minutes.  #quickieartandcraft Doing an arty farty shot with them.  #showingoff #cannotissit Now people will know who we are when we attend the upcoming celebrations. We sure can’t wait! If you’re a JRT just like us, do join us for JRM’s 13th birthday! Click here for more information.

Pet IC for dogs

By a huge stroke of luck, I completed my second paying gig (hehehe..secret for now) yesterday! To celebrate my fat little paycheck (or so I think, Daddy let out a pffft when he saw it though), I decided to buy the freeloader Pecan ah ma a round of drinks. #gotmoneygotsay #daddycannotlookdownonmeanymore #samthebreadwinner And of course, nothing beats a nice cold beer with some dog-friendly green lipped mussels from K9 Natural in this awful weather. #enjoyinglife #celebrationsmustwearhatone #elsenootherchancetowearthem So we did have a little more to drink…  and possibly got a little tipsy and probably a little noisy. #notdrunkjusthigh I guess we did disturb the people, erm, I mean person around us a little.  #whoelsebutgrumpydaddy #oopsydaisy #whoaskhimsleepintheroomneverclosedoor #notreallyourfaultleh Not only did he give us a huge disapproving look, he started chiding us for underage drinking. #guiltylook But hey, wait a minute. We ain’t actually underage! I mean Pecan is after all a granny and me, I’m a handsome mature dude. To prove Daddy wrong, Mummy decided to whip out proof in the purest form – our …

Paw Pet-radise is BACK!!

Our little fragile hearts died a little the day we learnt that Paw Pet-radise was closing. Afterall, it was one of the first few pet cafes I went to.  In fact, it took Pecan’s virginity (of pet cafe visits la) too lor. #okaythatsoundsgross #tryingtobedramamama We probably cramped in like… three visits in it’s last month of operation. #machiamendoftheworldlor But but but…. You know what…. apparently, Mummy told us that Paw Pet-radise has reopened! WHEEEEEEEEEE! #wrigglydance  We couldn’t wait to get our little paws there! #sokiasuthatwewentduringthesoftopeningweek Although it is still located at it’s original location (at Balestier), it got a little facelift! The most noticeable difference, is the introduction of a solid partition at the entrance. Say bye-bye to the flimsy gate! No more greeting the new dog via a fence. #yespecanwearelookingatyou Not to mention that this is certainly more secured. Gone are the large sofas as well! With that outta way, there is more space for the dogs to wrestle and play. Our parents did comment that the new furniture isn’t as comfortable though. But …

Keeping us busy

We know how pesky Jack Russells can be. #wearenotcalledjackrussellterrorsfornothing It is a constant fight for Mummy to keep us out of trouble.  Despite weekly swims and multiple walks daily, we do still give Mummy dirty looks to express our boredom once in a while. #entertainusorelse #thedeathstare #yeswearejudgingyou That being said, combating our boredom is no easy feat. In fact, it’s a major headache for Mummy.   Pecan and I are polar opposite.  I am really smart. And I mean REALLY smart. WAHHAHAHAHAH #whosaysselfpraiseisnopraise #itisthehighestofpraisesk Give me a treat toy and I can figure it out in seconds. #worsecometoworsejustusebrutestrengthlor #nothingmyjawscannotdefeat On the other hand, Pecan ah ma is…let’s just say slow. #stupidisstupidla  Unlike me, she doesn’t have the intellect (I mean) patience to overcome treat toys. So while most toys work for me, they don’t do the same for her. Toys that work for her, are like a yawn for me man. Hence, it is a challenge for Mummy to find toys that can keep both of us occupied.  But Mummy being Mummy (someone who is extremely obsessed …

Car Safety 101

Okay la, this isn’t exactly Car Safety 101.  Mummy recently made some changes to the way we travel in the car and guess what…  we’re absolutely loving it! This was how we used to ride – shotgun.  And we absolutely loved it, even though our combined weight always triggers the annoying seatbelt warning beep.  Hehehehe… #inotfat #Iisbigboned #itispecan’sfault Best part of car rides then, was when we got to peep out and enjoy a nice breeze. Sam: “The guy is eating an ice-cream!!!” Pecan: “Where? Where?” But things ain’t the same in the Loo Lim Household anymore. #boohoohoo It started with a convo between Mummy and Auntie Kristina (Pecan’s trainer). Auntie Kristina was sharing about how a car seat restraint for her dog possibly saved his life when she got into an accident with him in the car.  And that got Mummy thinking.  In addition, Mummy always judges people who let their kids (especially toddlers and infants) sit on their laps, instead of on child seats. #thatgrindshergears Of course, she would quietly remind herself that …

A Dear Deer Party!

We’re extremely lucky that Auntie Pauline from Howlistic Life has very generously offered to sponsor our little tummies with food and treats! #weneversaynotofood YEAH! After all, we have been long term fans of the many products that her company carries. *wriggly dance* When she sent some of the goodies over, we were over the moon and just had to whip out our party hats and CELEBRATE~~ woohoo~ YAP, WE’RE HAVING A DEAR DEER PARTY! #seeingsomanytreatsmakeusuberhigh We had always been fans of Dear Deer treats!  I mean…look at them!  How to say no?! This was seriously how happy we looked all day while Mummy was busy styling the treats. #happyuntilourmouthscannotclose Here are some reasons why we are such huge fans. #yapmummyiscrazyenoughtocreateaninfographicsforthis #shehastoomuchtimeonherhands Here’s what we got our paws on! (and this isn’t even the full range!) Some tips: If you have an aggressive chewer (or an annoying pooch that wouldn’t leave you alone), we strongly recommend the deer ribs, kneecaps and sinew! And yap, no kidding man. The Deer Kneecap is probably the only thing that …

GDAB Dog Challenge (25 April 2015)

We had a blast at Woof-a-thon last weekend.  So when the Guide Dog Association of the Blind (GDAB) contacted us about an upcoming outdoor event, we just couldn’t say no! #yeahtomoredoggieoutings We all know how important our eyes are to us.  Without the gift of sight, there are many things that we will not be able to do.  Unfortunately, there are some among us that are not as blessed as we are. That’s where guide dogs come in. These noble animals dedicate their lives to being the shield, companion and eyes to their visually impaired handler. The International Guide Dogs Day is a day to recognise the importance of guide dogs within our society.  In line with the International Guide Dogs Day, GDAB is organising their very first GDAB Dog Challenge on 25 April 2015 at Bishan Park, Activity Lawn 1. They are hoping to raise $100, 000 which will be used for the training of the blind and visually impaired as well as their guide dog programmes.  The GDAB Dog Challenge will consist of …

Pet Expo 2015

Hehehe, the most exciting weekend for pooches living in Singapore is here!  ‘Cos it’s PET EXPO 2015. And we went a little cray-cray there today. #justalittlecraycray #ourloot #pleasedonottelldaddy  Yap, Mummy is THAT obsessed with us. As we wanted to beat the crowd (parking woes especially), Mummy decided to bring us there on the first day.  We waited patiently (not) while Mummy went to collect our tickets. #barelycontainingourexcitement This was Pecan ah ma’s first Pet Expo and she was loving it.  #thetailsaysitall As for me, (I was here last year to help Mummy out with her work then) I’m loving how much bigger the fair is this time round. Not only are there more exhibitors, the variety has increased! #gotsparkleinmyeyekindaexcitinglor We started by taking a look at the whole place and planning where to drag Mummy to. #thatisourgameface Of course, our first stop just had to be…. the Tiny Krew Booth!  To meet the love of my life – Jager!!!!! Hehehehehhee!  I missed him so much la. #pecanonlywantedtodrinkfromhiswaterbowl #shenocareabouthim Once we said our “His” and exchanged …

A day of Lure Coursing!

We finally met the adorable Westies (Klaus, Jasser and Koros, brothers from the same litter!) from the Wooga gang! But this was no simple meet-and-greet…. this was actually an awesome Lure Coursing Session!! #paiseh #icannottellwhoiswho If you’re wondering what lure coursing is (and is too lazy to click on the link above, tsk tsk tsk), it is actually a fast-paced chase sport for dogs.  Using a specialised machine, dogs will run after a ‘bunny’ lure (usually a white plastic bag), that is attached to a line controlled by the device. The machine will run the line and the dogs will chase the lure. Simple as that. Mummy was really excited when she first heard about it. After all, Jack Russell Terriers (like Westies) are hunting dogs and chasing after a prey is in our blood! So, of course she would love to give it a shot! Lucky for us, Auntie Ashley has an extremely cool lure machine! “Wiggley dance” And..we got to try it out today! Woohoo~ #auntieashleysidabest We had to be held back while …
