Sam’s Pick: Dr Bronner 18-in-1 Pure Castile Soap

We should have known better when Mummy suddenly allowed us to get muddy and dirty on our day out. #shealawayshassomethinguphersleeves #mummybullyusagain Yap, she had her agenda. She just wanted to get us all dirty for the activity that me and Pecan dread every single week. #whoeverinventedshowersistheworstpersonintheworld #letusoutofhere BATHS. #wecringeatthisword The only difference was that she wanted to put our new ‘shampoo’ to test. Introducing the Dr Bronner‘s line of organic soaps.  #letusoutoftheshower Auntie Christina, from Nature’s Glory, dropped us an email to see if we were interested to try out Dr Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soaps. She shared about how the soap benefitted her puppy, Koko, who was suffering from fur loss caused by allergies to showering foam and dairy products.  #socute Upon seeing how well it worked for Koko, Mummy was quite intrigued.  The thing was, unlike Koko, Pecan and myself really do not have any skin issues. Hence, Mummy wasn’t too sure how the soap may benefit us. To help decide which soap we should test, we raised a few of our concerns to …

Sam’s pick: The Optivizor

Meet Sam and Pecan, the Superhero Jacks. Nay, I wish. #justkidding #butdoesn’tthegetupmakeuslooklikesomesuperheroes #okaywearedelusion Introducing.. The Optivizor! #dangwhydoesitreallysoundlikesomesuperhero While the optivizor doesn’t give us super powers (what a disappointment), it does something pretty impressive too. It protects our eyes from the damaging UV rays! We were first contacted by Auntie Jeannie who introduced this to Mummy. The very sweet lady noticed that Pecan’s eyes appeared to have cataracts in some of the photos. #sheisabsolutelyright #mummyhaslousyphotoshopskills #shedoesnotevenbothertocoverthatup To help manage Pecan’s cataracts (she is currently on long-term prescription eye drops), she offered us the Optivizors to review. #sothoughtfulandsweet To ensure that we got the right fit, Auntie Jeannie even arranged for her local counterparts from Bubble Pet Care to come by our place to fit us. Thanks to Auntie Pearl and Uncle Kenneth for going the extra mile!  The optivizors are colour coded. I wear an Orange S while ah ma wears a yellow XS. #orangeismycolour #toobadnopinkforahma The Optivizor serves a few purposes: 1. Help protect blind and special vision dogs minimise chance of injuries when they touch, …

Trick or Treat?

Halloween is right around the corner and we’re looking forward to our party! In the meantime, Mummy’s been cracking her brain on how to dress us up for the celebrations. #asusualsheissolastminute She whipped out Mr Pumpkin man – the one and only costume that we’ve been donning for the past 1 2 3 4 5 6 years – for a test shot. #soboringla #everyoneinthewholeworldhasalreadyseenuswearingthis  This is seriously overused. We need something refreshing! Mummy started scouting around the house and found these. #samandpecanthejackrussellbunnies Cute indeed. Erm, but our parents can’t possibly walk around the hood trying to hold this near our snouts right? #howstupidcanmummyget So she went online, googled and had a lightbulb moment. #wehaveabadfeelingaboutthis #veryverybadfeeling She quickly emptied out the first aid kit at home and took these out. #oursuspiciousfaces Moment of truth…. Meet Sam and Pecan, the Jack Russell Mummies. Me be like “This is the worst day of my life”. Pecan be like “Get this crap off me” Daddy be like “they don’t look like mummies. They looked like they got lang-garred (ran …

DIY time: Dog-friendly Peanut Butter!

Mummy has wayyyy too much time on her hands these days. So, she decided to DIY more items for us! #heywearenotcomplaining Pecan’s wondering what’s on the menu today. #ahmathephotobomber Sniffing out the ingredients as we make a wild guess. #aiyathetitlealreadygivetheanswerawayliao Yaps, we’re making Dog-friendly Peanut Butter today! Yums! Mummy used to give us store-bought peanut butter. However, it can get a bit tricky choosing the right one as many of them contain unhealthy preservatives (especially xylitol) that can be harmful to dogs. So what’s the best solution for someone who has too much time on her hands – DO IT YOURSELF! #ourtummiesagreefully “Can we apply it to our favourite donut toy too?” #pecan’sstupidityisrubbingoffme #thisisaBADsign Mummy found a recipe online and modified it a tad. She added our favourite coconut oil to boost the taste and of course, for added benefits too. #ourtummiesagreeagain The process is as straightforward as it looks.  Simply put all the ingredients in a blender and blend and blend and blend and blend. And Wa-la~ you get yummy peanut butter! Our stupid …

Made with Love: DIY Dog Toothpaste

Mummy is very particular about our day-to-day hygiene and health. One thing that she takes pride in, is how she manages to brush our pearly whites. Not just that.  She does it EVERYDAY. Religiously. #sheprobablywishesthatwecanbrushitourselves #sorrywedonothaveopposablethumbs PS: Ah ma got stinky breath, so I sit far far away. I started brushing my teeth when I was just a two month old puppy. Since the habit started really young, I am actually very fond of it. #thatexplainswhymyteethlooksogood I am 6 this year, and judging from the condition of my teeth, I’m very confident to say that there is no need for any scaling anytime soon. #thevetswhoIseearealwaysveryimpressed #importanceofbrushingteeth  (Okay la, Mummy thinks raw bones play a larger part, but that’s for another day/another post) Pecan, on the other hand, is almost bo-gay (toothless) after two scaling sessions to rid her of her bad (BAD, BAD) breath.  Now, her breath is way better. And to ensure that she doesn’t have to go under anesthesia in future, Mummy is doing her best to keep those remaining teeth clean and …

Sam’s Pick – Ewegurt

Mummy loves me to the moon and back and would never push me away no matter what I do. Well, almost.  There is just one tiny little thing that will send her running away (and also pretty much empty the room in seconds) – my fart bombs. #yapIamsamthefartingmachine #myfartsarepotent #sorrynotsorry So when Uncle ZK from Platinum Pets dropped us a message to find out if we were keen to give Ewegurt a shot, Mummy jumped at it without any hesitation. #anythingthatcanresolvethewaytoofrequentfartbombsplease Mummy has been giving us yoghurt as an occasional treat for a while now.  While Pecan ah ma does great on it, the store bought yoghurt results in runny poops and (to mummy’s horror) added potency to my ‘almost-fatal’ bombs.  #Isecretlylikethatactually So, Mummy was keeping her fingers crossed that Ewegurt would do the opposite – help settle my sensitive tummy while providing probotics to help with my digestion. #butIlikemyfartbombsleh We were quite surprised when the packaging arrived. As it is branded as Sheep’s Milk Yoghurt Based Treats for Dogs, Mummy was expecting it to …

Happy 12th Birthday Ah ma!

September 14 2015 was a special day. It was the day that the ancient one (aka Pecan ah ma) turned TWELVE. #omg #whatahugenumber #icanonlycounttoten As usual, birthdays in the Loo Lim Household are a big thing. Well, kinda, only if you’re the beloved furkids. The parents get zilch celebration. #spoiltbrats So, it was party mood all week! Woohoo~ The birthday girl in her bathing suit. #omgagain #oldwomanactyoung It started off with the customary grooming session. #thisonewebothnothappyabout #enoughairtomakeathirddog Photo credit: Wooga This was no usual grooming though.  We actually went for a handstripping session. I’ve been handstripped before and was supposed to be quite accustomed to it.  However, it was Pecan’s virgin handstripping. Hence Mummy was a tad concern that she wouldn’t do well. #sooldstillvirgin #HEHEHEHEHEHE In the end, Pecan did beautifully. Me, on the other hand, cried ‘father and mother’ (even grandmother) when I was being stripped. #asusualsamistherascalofthetwo Mummy was so embarrassed when Auntie Shiting and Auntie Ashley told her that. Oh, in case you’re wondering if it hurts, it really doesn’t. I was just …

Sam’s Pick: Animology

The kind people at Pet Lovers Centre dropped us an email to ask if we were keen to review their products. You know we’ll never say no. #cheapomummy #neversaynotofree #daddypockethappy This time, we tried our paws on one of PLC’s exclusive products –  the Animology Shampoo. All the way from the UK, it is an multi award winning brand that is trusted by groomers and animal care professionals around the world!   Mummy is a sucker for branding. So she was sold the instant she saw the packaging. #canbemoreshallowanot Besides that, there is a wide range of products for dogs of all sizes, skin and coat types. We were so spoilt for choice that Mummy took so long to decide which two products to test out. #indecisivewoman After like FOREVER, she decided to give the White Wash Shampoo a shot. It is specially concocted for white dogs and has been developed using a low foam formula that makes it quick and easy to rinse while reducing the chances of any irritation. It also comes with …
