Ah ma’s recovery

When Mummy first adopted Pecan, this crazy feisty ah ma’s energy was higher than mine. She even did better than me on her health checkup and blood test. (I failed my blood test twice due to high protein levels, aka eat too much.) For a while, Mummy thought that she adopted a ten-month-old rascal and not a decade old granny. Seeing how healthy and hyper ah ma is, I was quite resigned that I will be stuck with her for a long long time. (NOoooooooo) The only problem was that she was not sterilized. After taking ah ma’s age into consideration (plus, I’m neutered), Mummy decided to let it be and not let ah ma undergo the surgery for that. Little did she know that this will come back to haunt her.  *Den den den den* (Movie dramatic entrance) Basically, Mummy noticed that ah ma’s vulva was exceptionally swollen. While she thought that ah ma was in heat when we first got her, it remained swollen even after six months. Sensing that something was not …

Sam’s Pick – Feed My Paws Treats~

When Auntie Crystle from Feed My Paws dropped us an email asking if we were keen to review her handmade treats, we just couldn’t say no! I mean, who in the right mind would say no to anything edible?! Not us for sure… She was really awesome and asked us to pick whatever we wanted. So, we spent the entire evening glancing through the website (drooling while doing so) and pointed at EVERY SINGLE ITEM. Seeing how greedy we were, Mummy sighed and proceeded to let Auntie Crystle decide what she wants us to try. Booooooooooo~ Mummy sucks! As we don’t have any allergies and would eat anything that comes our way, Auntie Crystle offered to let us sample some of her bestsellers. (Fret not if you suffer from any food allergies as you can customize your very own treats using ingredients that you can eat!) And when the treats arrived at home, we could not believe our eyes! There were so many yummy looking snacks JUST FOR US!!! *Wriggly dance* #soimpressed We were so …

Brunch @ W39

Seeing how much Pecan ah ma has improved, Mummy decided to take a leap of faith and bring us out for a brunch appointment! Off we go!!! #roadtrip We were so excited and had no idea where we were heading to! We used to have to travel far just to find a Sam-welcomed brunch place. But lucky for us, Mummy managed to find a Sam-welcomed cafe in the west!! It’s none other than W39, a pet-friendly Bistro & Bakery! Actually, Mummy is quite familiar with this joint! She has visited this place numerous times for work and has come to realized that although it is a pet-friendly cafe, there ain’t always many dogs around. Not only was it relatively close by, it was a perfect place for ah ma! Besides being the first brunch outing for ah ma since she graduated from training, we even invited a special guest to tag along! Hee, we were excited just waiting for his arrival! It was none other than our furry cousin, RUSTY! Lil’ Rust is a Silky Terrier …

Pecan’s little quirks….

We usually try to keep our blog posts light-hearted and cheery.  I mean, that’s pretty much how our lives are. But occasionally, there will be certain dog-related encounters that pisses Mummy off (but again, a lot of things pisses that lady off.) and get her really upset. One such incident happened during our night walk today and we just felt the need to mention it here…. For those who have met me and Mummy at doggy events (Thanks for saying hi!!!), one of the most common questions I get is: “Where’s Pecan ah ma?” Don’t let her cute (PUI~) little face deceive you.  Unlike me, Pecan ah ma is actually not dog-friendly, at all. While she is the sweetest little thing to humans (even to annoying kids), she cannot handle the sight of another dog.  Things weren’t easy from the start. Since bringing ah ma home with us, Mummy and Daddy had to deal with the endless little squabbles that happened between us which usually ended with me screaming like a girl. We fought at …

Outing to West Coast Park Dog Run!

We typically spend our saturdays swimming. But since we’ve an exciting pool party tomorrow, Mummy decided to bring us to the WCP dog run instead!  So we dragged Daddy out to have some outdoor fun with us! (He wasn’t too pleased as usual) When we got there, we were super lucky! It was totally empty! I swore I could hear Mummy cheering. Pecan ah ma isn’t dog friendly. Hence, our parents had chosen the ungodly hour of 1pm to head to the outdoors, with the hopes that other owners aren’t as insane as them and thus, there will be no other dogs.  Well, in the occasion that there are people as crazy as her, Mummy does have a backup plan! She and Daddy will split up (ie. she’ll continue to walk ah ma outside while I enter the park with Daddy).  Needless to say, she was over the moon to find it empty! Guess she wasn’t the only one… We were pretty excited too! We spent a good ten minutes exploring and claiming the vicinity …

A dog’s box!

Who says boxes are only for cats? As a Canis Lupus familiaris (aka dogs), we can be rather fond of this magic cardboard too! One of Daddy’s online shopping (prob one of his war hammy related stuff) came in an extremely big box. Just when Daddy was about to toss it out, Mummy had an idea and decided to let us have some fun with it. So with a penknife, she cut over a couple of openings and viola~ My little boxy fortress! It was pretty awesome. It was so much fun hiding in it. Hee, I swear Mummy couldn’t find me and kept walking past me without realizing! #myfortisinformidable  A happy camper in his little fort. Sigh~  Too bad for me, Pecan ah ma decided that she wanted to join in the fun as well.  So she forcefully squeezed in MY the box with me. #notimpressed Ah ma clearly loves it too.  (Spot me sulking in the background?) She was small enough to weave in and out of the cutouts. Not pleased that my privacy …

Dumpling for Dogs!

Mummy came home with something weird looking today. I had no idea what the hack it was.  But somehow, Pecan ah ma seemed to be over the moon and couldn’t stop dancing around when she saw it. In fact, she was so excited that she couldn’t stop smiling. As for me, I’ve no freaking idea what this was.  I mean, it looked like a green solid rock with a sting tied around it.  I was rather wary of it.  Hm, was Mummy gonna use it to knock my head when I get into mischief? Somehow, I just couldn’t understand why ah ma was so happy. But again. she is kinda crazy. Seeing my apprehension, Mummy suddenly remembered something –  I am an ABCD (American Born Chinese Dog). Come ‘on, I bark in an accent k and I run away the instant I see durian.  As what Uncle Bernard (one of mummy’s friend) always says, I am a Siao Ang Mo (a crazy westerner) since my name is SAM. Mummy couldn’t stop laughing when she saw …

Say a little doggy prayer…

Mummy says that if I pray for something, it might just come true. So I gave it a shot… “I want some treats….please oh please” And VIOLA~ I was rewarded with some of my favorite treats in the world – Dear Deer Kneecaps and Neck steaks! Mummy swears by them as they are the very few treats that can keep me occupied for as long as thirty minutes! The rest are usually gone in seconds.  (Shhh, I love it so much that I will also growl when Mummy attempts to come near me when I’m enjoying one.) Of course, being the sweetheart I always am, I was more than glad to share some with Pecan ah ma.  We were so excited.  In fact, ah ma couldn’t stop drooling! #sogross So typical of the un-ladylike Pecan.  And when we finally each got one… the rest was history.  We gave Mummy the thirty minutes of peace she deserved while we gnawed to our hearts’ delight! Shall add it to my mid-year resolution to say a little prayer …

Our weekly groom

It’s time for something we anticipate weekly… Our weekly brush! It usually starts out with a round of furminator, which me and Pecan ah ma HATE! Mummy has to wrestle us to get that done, hence no pics, We dislike it as it can get a little pricky when she combs us. But Mummy’s a fan as it is really effective in removing stray hair. Thankfully, the second part of our weekly groom is wayy more bearable. Actually, it’s even kinda enjoyable! Using a pin brush, Mummy tries to neaten our coat and scratch any other stray hair left behind. It really feels darn good! As if we were having a good belly scratch! If you’re wondering if Jack Russells shed. Yes, we do. In fact, we shed a new dog everyday. There was so much hair that it could be rolled into a fur ball! Maybe we should do something with that hair.  Like weave it into a toy? We were brainstorming for some cool ideas. Of course, as usual, Mummy has other plans. …

Happy birthday Smiggle!

Remember Smiggle, the American Cocker Spaniel who had a crush on me? I was actually invited to her birthday present last weekend. #cannothelpthatIampopular Hee, her party was held at Paw Pet-radise as well.  Although it was held at the same venue, I was really impressed that her buffet spread of dog goodies was different from that of Cole’s.  Plus, I love how nice the presentation is. My only complaint – the yummy food was placed too high on a wall-table. Like that how I reach?! In the end, I had to rely on Mummy to get food for me. Likewise, the humans were stealing food meant for the dogs!! I saw Mummy and her group of friends going for second, third and even fourth servings of the fruits that were meant for us! PUI how can?! Happy birthday Smiggle! One more with the little birthday girl! Not only did I have a great spread of food, we were each given a Fetch-Box with a plushie in it as a take-home gift! Can’t decide which to …
