Sam around the house #1

Guess it’s finally time for me to show you around my HDB flat.  I’m creating a new series called “Sam around the house” where I’ll introducing little parts of my new sty over a few blog posts.  Hope you enjoy the series… Today, I’m going to introduce you to…the BED! As the bed unit didn’t come with any side tables and due to space constraints (making it difficult to buy an exact fit side table), mummy got her contractor to customize the side table. Unfortunately, there was only ample space to add one side table. No surprises to who’s sleeping on that side. =P Anyway, I was anxiously waiting for the bed to arrive as I wasn’t around for the furniture shopping and didn’t know what to expect… After two days of waiting and a little magic (aka laying the bedsheets)…. *Drum rolls* Presenting the Swing bed from Grafunkt! Also featuring mummy’s favorite Dachshund Pillows.  Mummy selected her favorite shots from our photoshoot and using Canvas on Demand, she created a gorgeous centerpiece to the bed, eliminating the need …

Our Cartoon Family Portrait…

Mummy has a thing for customized items (usually with me as the focal point). When mummy attended the NYC Comic Con last year, she chanced upon the artwork of artist, Katie Cook in the Artist’s Gallery and couldn’t resist getting her to do a family portrait of us.  Hee, I love that the artist kept the scuffy look on me and thought it looked like me, although most people thought that Daddy’s cartoon has the strongest resemblance.   Before coming back, Mummy got it framed. Now that we are settled into our new place, mummy finally had the opportunity to put it up on the wall.  Showing off the great artwork. Pretty cute isn’t it?

Crafting Duo presents… Pillow covers!

My parents customized a lovely couch from Sanctuary Dian. Everyone at home is in love with the couch, though I’ve proudly claimed it as mine. However, mummy felt that it does look a little bare. Hence, she decided that it was time for the crafting duo to embark on our next project. Introducing the materials for our project. After a thorough QC, I approved of the materials. Materials: Riley Blake Chevron Fabric from Moods in NYC, Pillowcase from Ikea, Gutterman Sewing  threads. Getting ready at Mummy’s sewing station.  Yes, I did the sewing today. Nay~ Just kidding. Of course, Mummy was the one doing the work and I did my job by staring. The project was pretty simple but due to Mummy’s low XP, there were a couple of hiccups. (e.g. she cut the fabric too small and had to use snaps to keep the pillow covers closed.)  Lousy mummy.  Nonetheless, once she got the hang of it, each pillow cover took no more than half hour to complete.  Posing with the completed pillow covers. …

Couple Outfits…

Remember Peachy? To thank Mummy for dog sitting, Peachy’s very sweet mummy bought us some gifts (toys, leash, harness etc). Mummy’s favorite of the lot was none other than… the couple tees. -_- Peachy’s mummy thoughtfully bought each of us two matching outfits! Introducing the SuperDogs!  And the barrister dogs!  Mummy kept laughing at me when I put on the Starbucks shirt as she thinks that I look like a wanna-be hunk going to the beach.  -_- Unlike Peachy who was super excited to put the outfits on, I wasn’t too pleased to wear something and was awfully glad when mummy finally took it off.  Phew~ Thankfully I only have to wear it if Peachy’s around! PS: Mummy just told me that Peachy’s coming for another staycation this weekend!  Time for us to plot some grand plans of mischief.  Ho ho ho ….

Little Craft Session…by the crafting duo!

My parents attended the MAAD event at the Red Dot Museum a couple of weekends back to support mummy’s ex-colleague who started her own artwork line, Little Shop of Dreams (L.S.O.D).  Hee, mummy really loves the artwork as they are really simple yet cute. To support her ex-colleague, mummy bought a handful of postcards and a little canvas zip pouch.  Me posing with the loot. When mummy bought the zip pouch, she had every intention to personalize it (for me of course). Hence, when she stumbled upon another crafty booth at MAAD selling alphabet buttons, she couldn’t resist and bought buttons spelling my humble name.  Of course, mummy is the queen of procrastination. And after a good two weeks or so, she finally got down to doing some craft work and attempted to sew the buttons on. Unfortunately, her crafting XP is too low and she couldn’t figure out how to sew the buttons on properly. (Well, to her defence, the fabric covered buttons were pretty challenging to sew. Okay fine, she sucks.) All is …

Our ECP outing…

We had a little family outing to the East Coast of the little red dot! As nice as the photos looked, it was a pretty circuitous journey getting there.  Well, you see, the intention for this outing was to attend a pets events at ECP. And since we are commuting from the northwest to the far east, mummy wanted to go cycling as well. We decided to fit mummy’s and daddy’s foldable bicycles plus Sam’s little bike seat into GrandDaddy’s sedan.  And boy, was it a challenge.  Firstly, bringing two foldable bikes, a bike seat and a not-so-obedient dog down the lift wasn’t exactly  a piece of cake. When we finally made it down, my parents spent a good twenty minutes trying to fit the bikes into both the back seats and the boot of the sedan. I swore I heard mummy heaved a sigh of relief when she realized that everything could fit afterall.  Secondly, we discovered that mummy’s bike got slightly damaged during the transportation from NYC and that tyres of both bikes …

Sam, the HDB dog!

It has been almost a month since I officially became a HDB flat dog.  (*HDB flats are public housing in Singapore) So far, so good. While I really do miss our neighborhood in NYC, my current neighborhood doesn’t pale in comparison.  Hee, here’s a peek into my daily routine as an HDB dog. It begins with a ‘I want to go out‘ face and staring out. After gearing up, we have to take the lift down. (OOTD: My ecofriendly Martingale Collar and a cool red retractable leash) Introducing my neighborhood!  Presenting my block! I will proceed to do my ‘deeds’ and a couple of meet and greet.   Unfortunately, there aren’t many dogs around and I would meet an average of just three to four dogs a week. (Sad huh…) Despite that, there are ample trees and grassy areas for me to sniff and mark. Guess that more than makes up for the lack of butts to sniff. After all official business matters are settled, mummy and I would proceed to sit down, relax and …

Made with Love… 3rd Serving!

Mummy made chicken jerky today (again)! Practice really makes perfect. This is officially the best batch of them all! Using the jerky gun provided, the slices of jerky ended up being the right length and thickness. Not only were the texture and the color of the jerky excellent, they had the perfect chewiness and crunch too.  YUM YUM. (Don’t say I never share… The magic ingredients are…Minced chicken with parsley and garlic powder.) Hee, can you tell which are handmade? Presenting the Alessi Jars – perfect air tight dog treat jars that keep treats nice and fresh!   A Super duper excited me…  Led to a really happy me! Hee, okay, I know it’s getting slightly boring, but this is definitely the last serving of jerky! The next made with love entry will certainly be something more interesting.  (Maybe a dog cookie? *Hint hint mummy)

My nice little weekend..

Now that we have finally settled down in the sunny little red dot, our weekends are becoming more structured and my parents are starting to spend more time with me, doing things I adore (their main aim is to tire me out actually). We went to K9 Kulture (at Turf City) and were pleasantly surprised to find it empty on a lovely Saturday afternoon. I pretty much had the pool to myself for the good half of the hour, before several other little dogs came in. I was too obsessed with my monkey to be too bothered with other dogs, even when another Jack Russell decided to join me on my swim. (I was more concerned she was eyeing on my monkey, but it turned out that she just enjoyed swimming beside other dogs.) After a good hour of workout, we settled down in the cafe and while my parents had coffee, I was served yummy liver brownies!  We chilled at the cafe for about an hour before finally heading to Auntie Shoon’s place for …

Made with Love.. Second Serving!

After Mummy’s first successful attempt making beef jerky, she embarked on her second attempt – Chicken Breast Jerky. This time, she made sure to keep it within budget and bought two packets of chicken breast (for less than $5). Mummy added some parsley and garlic powdering to increase the tastiness of the chicken.  (Plus, parsley also helps to remove stinky breath!) Stupid mummy only seasoned the top of the meat. Hence when she proceeded to slice them to 1/8″ to 1/4″ thick pieces, not all pieces were well seasoned.  Duh~ But they sure looked and smelt good nonetheless. Close up of the best slice piece! *Drools* Unfortunately, it took a whooping eight hours for the whole dehydration process to be completed. I was soooo bored of waiting. T_T At least dinner was awesome! Mummy rewarded my patience with a home cooked chicken meal using the leftover meat and some frozen vegetables. Daddy commented that it smelt so good that he wanted to have them for himself. Ho ho ho. Not happening, Daddy! Finally, after a …
