A Dear Deer Party!

We’re extremely lucky that Auntie Pauline from Howlistic Life has very generously offered to sponsor our little tummies with food and treats! #weneversaynotofood YEAH! After all, we have been long term fans of the many products that her company carries. *wriggly dance* When she sent some of the goodies over, we were over the moon and just had to whip out our party hats and CELEBRATE~~ woohoo~ YAP, WE’RE HAVING A DEAR DEER PARTY! #seeingsomanytreatsmakeusuberhigh We had always been fans of Dear Deer treats!  I mean…look at them!  How to say no?! This was seriously how happy we looked all day while Mummy was busy styling the treats. #happyuntilourmouthscannotclose Here are some reasons why we are such huge fans. #yapmummyiscrazyenoughtocreateaninfographicsforthis #shehastoomuchtimeonherhands Here’s what we got our paws on! (and this isn’t even the full range!) Some tips: If you have an aggressive chewer (or an annoying pooch that wouldn’t leave you alone), we strongly recommend the deer ribs, kneecaps and sinew! And yap, no kidding man. The Deer Kneecap is probably the only thing that …

GDAB Dog Challenge (25 April 2015)

We had a blast at Woof-a-thon last weekend.  So when the Guide Dog Association of the Blind (GDAB) contacted us about an upcoming outdoor event, we just couldn’t say no! #yeahtomoredoggieoutings We all know how important our eyes are to us.  Without the gift of sight, there are many things that we will not be able to do.  Unfortunately, there are some among us that are not as blessed as we are. That’s where guide dogs come in. These noble animals dedicate their lives to being the shield, companion and eyes to their visually impaired handler. The International Guide Dogs Day is a day to recognise the importance of guide dogs within our society.  In line with the International Guide Dogs Day, GDAB is organising their very first GDAB Dog Challenge on 25 April 2015 at Bishan Park, Activity Lawn 1. They are hoping to raise $100, 000 which will be used for the training of the blind and visually impaired as well as their guide dog programmes.  The GDAB Dog Challenge will consist of …

Pet Expo 2015

Hehehe, the most exciting weekend for pooches living in Singapore is here!  ‘Cos it’s PET EXPO 2015. And we went a little cray-cray there today. #justalittlecraycray #ourloot #pleasedonottelldaddy  Yap, Mummy is THAT obsessed with us. As we wanted to beat the crowd (parking woes especially), Mummy decided to bring us there on the first day.  We waited patiently (not) while Mummy went to collect our tickets. #barelycontainingourexcitement This was Pecan ah ma’s first Pet Expo and she was loving it.  #thetailsaysitall As for me, (I was here last year to help Mummy out with her work then) I’m loving how much bigger the fair is this time round. Not only are there more exhibitors, the variety has increased! #gotsparkleinmyeyekindaexcitinglor We started by taking a look at the whole place and planning where to drag Mummy to. #thatisourgameface Of course, our first stop just had to be…. the Tiny Krew Booth!  To meet the love of my life – Jager!!!!! Hehehehehhee!  I missed him so much la. #pecanonlywantedtodrinkfromhiswaterbowl #shenocareabouthim Once we said our “His” and exchanged …

A day of Lure Coursing!

We finally met the adorable Westies (Klaus, Jasser and Koros, brothers from the same litter!) from the Wooga gang! But this was no simple meet-and-greet…. this was actually an awesome Lure Coursing Session!! #paiseh #icannottellwhoiswho If you’re wondering what lure coursing is (and is too lazy to click on the link above, tsk tsk tsk), it is actually a fast-paced chase sport for dogs.  Using a specialised machine, dogs will run after a ‘bunny’ lure (usually a white plastic bag), that is attached to a line controlled by the device. The machine will run the line and the dogs will chase the lure. Simple as that. Mummy was really excited when she first heard about it. After all, Jack Russell Terriers (like Westies) are hunting dogs and chasing after a prey is in our blood! So, of course she would love to give it a shot! Lucky for us, Auntie Ashley has an extremely cool lure machine! “Wiggley dance” And..we got to try it out today! Woohoo~ #auntieashleysidabest We had to be held back while …

Made with Love: Pumpkin-pork treats

After watching episode after episode of Cupcake Wars (yap, she indulges in trashy shows), Mummy developed an itch for baking.  So, naturally, that means more home made goodies for us! Wheeeeee~ #godblesstrashyrealitytv Introducing our very own Dog-friendly Pumpkin Pork Cookies! And trust us, it is outta the world! #lickspawsinsatisfaction  What you need: This makes about 80 cookies! (Yap, Mummy’s trying to kill us with cookies. But hey, we ain’t complaining.) 3 cups of wheat flour (replace this with a grain-free flour if your dog is prone to allergies) 1 egg 300g of lean pork One half of a pumpkin 2 tablespoons of parsley 1 tablespoon of coconut oil  Do keep some water and excess flour on hand too. And we shall not forget the most important tool of the day – dog-shaped cookie cutters from Muji! What to do: 1. Preheat oven to 175 Degree Celsius. 2. Cut both the pumpkin and lean pork meat into slices and boil till soft and cooked. 3. Blend the mixture into puree form. 4. Pour the puree, flour, …

Sam I am

Mummy always tell people that I am an ABCD, an American Born Chinese Dog. Cos, I was born in the United States! Not only that, I am actually a true-blue New Yorker! Here’s how my story goes… Daddy was posted to New York for a work stint and of course, Mummy tagged along. #noitisnottaitailifeitishousewifelife Mummy has always wanted a dog (since she was a kid). So, there was no better time to have one when she has three years on her hands to kill in a foreign place. Hence, Mummy started researching about shaggy dogs and came upon Rough Coat Jack Russell Terriers. She also found a breeder (MeadowBrook Russell) in New York. And lucky her, there was a puppy available! Yap, it was yours truly. WAHAHAHA.. The picture that sealed the deal! My parents drove an hour that very weekend to check on me and to speak to my breeder, Patti. They always said that I was a fraud. After all, I gave them tons of kisses when we first met. (Once I went home with them, all …

Work-in-Progress

Kudos to Mummy for finally creating our very own Facebook page! #waituntilnecklonglongliao #pleasegiveusyoursupportwor Now that it is off our to-do list. The next thing inefficient mummy  we have to get around doing… is.. giving our blog a fresh look!  Unfortunately, Mummy is no where close to being an expert in this field. Le Sigh~ #peopletakefiveminutesshetakesfivehours  So, please bear with us as we work on refreshing the blog!

Here comes 2015!

Yap, yet another year has come and gone. There were some ups and downs in 2014, but overall, I think we did pretty alright.  So, we are hoping that 2015 will treat us equally well, if not better.  What better way to kick start the new year than to conform to the norm… by setting New Year Resolutions! Creativity at its best…not. #samandpecanonthebandwagon #lightbulbmoment Here goes… 1. Stop Lao-sai-ing (diarrhoea) Sad to say, both me and Pecan ah ma have been having non-stop runs for the past 1.5weeks.  Sigh~ It’s like a Merlion out of our butts.  #mybacksidepainliao #ahmashitslikesheisvomittingoutofherarse After Mummy’s failed home-remedies (pumpkin, boiled chicken and brown rice did nothing to help), she gave in and brought us to the vet.  So, the two of us are currently on ID food and a strict no-treats diet. Not to mention yucky meds. Sigh. What a shitty way to celebrate the new year.  #bekindtoourbutts So…please please please… GO AWAY STUPID STOMACH BUGS! PS: Thanks Auntie Lynne for the unglam photo -_- 2. Go for another dog-friendly …

The JRTS go hiking!

Mummy took an insane leap of faith and gamble and brought Pecan ah ma along for her very first Jack Russell Mania outing to the Green Corridor. Yap, you didn’t hear me wrong.  We actually brought the crazy smelly old lady to an outing with many other dogs. Not just other dogs, but fellow Jack Russells! It’s like crazy meet crazy. Of course, there were initial doubts if it was too much for her to handle.  But after some consideration, our parents decided to take the plunge and went right for it. Well, there was always Plan B if it didn’t work out – go back home.  (Shhh, lazy Daddy was secretly rooting for that lor) #mydaddysucks And guess what, Ah ma did beautifully.  In fact, she was perfect. She walked and walked and walked, alongside many others.  I swear I saw tears in Mummy’s eyes.  #yayayayaIexaggeratela But nonetheless, Mummy was damn proud of Pecan. So am I.  Getting ready for the hike! We kept our distance in the beginning to ensure that ah ma …

Sibling Love…

The relationship between me and Pecan ah ma has come a long, long way.  From arch enemies to tolerant housemates to loving siblings. From frequent fights, to occasional squabbles, to ganging up against Mummy together. Most importantly, we’ve even learnt how to play properly. While most of the time we wrestle to crawl on top of each other, there are a couple of rare occasions where we just spend sometime showing some sibling love. Mummy: “Awwwwwww… so sweet. Give her a kiss, Sam?” With my eyes on the treats Mummy is waving, I decided to give Pecan ah ma a kiss. Worst decision of my life. Because ah ma has bad bad BAD breath. #pecanahma’sbreathcankillone #smellslikerotteneggs #NOTIMPRESSED I nearly died man…. (*with eyes looking at the treat*)   Since we’re siblings, I really do not mind. #anythingforfood Here goes… #instantregret Touched by my gesture, Pecan ah ma decides to return my favor and gave me a kiss too! #siblinglove I swear that Mummy was in tears after witnessing this heartwarming moment. Okay, I exaggerate.  But …
