Sam around the house #1

Guess it’s finally time for me to show you around my HDB flat.  I’m creating a new series called “Sam around the house” where I’ll introducing little parts of my new sty over a few blog posts.  Hope you enjoy the series… Today, I’m going to introduce you to…the BED! As the bed unit didn’t come with any side tables and due to space constraints (making it difficult to buy an exact fit side table), mummy got her contractor to customize the side table. Unfortunately, there was only ample space to add one side table. No surprises to who’s sleeping on that side. =P Anyway, I was anxiously waiting for the bed to arrive as I wasn’t around for the furniture shopping and didn’t know what to expect… After two days of waiting and a little magic (aka laying the bedsheets)…. *Drum rolls* Presenting the Swing bed from Grafunkt! Also featuring mummy’s favorite Dachshund Pillows.  Mummy selected her favorite shots from our photoshoot and using Canvas on Demand, she created a gorgeous centerpiece to the bed, eliminating the need …

Our Cartoon Family Portrait…

Mummy has a thing for customized items (usually with me as the focal point). When mummy attended the NYC Comic Con last year, she chanced upon the artwork of artist, Katie Cook in the Artist’s Gallery and couldn’t resist getting her to do a family portrait of us.  Hee, I love that the artist kept the scuffy look on me and thought it looked like me, although most people thought that Daddy’s cartoon has the strongest resemblance.   Before coming back, Mummy got it framed. Now that we are settled into our new place, mummy finally had the opportunity to put it up on the wall.  Showing off the great artwork. Pretty cute isn’t it?

The REAL dynamics of our relationship…

Peachy’s here for her second staycation with us.  On the surface (or at least on photos), we appear as the sweet happy couple of direct opposites.  But… what really goes on behind closed doors is… this. Yes. Peachy clearly wears the pants in the relationship. -_- I’m not saying I’m henpecked. I really do do my best to overpower her and be a ‘man’.  Unfortunately, my efforts are futile. The truth is she is still DA BOSS. Sigh~  #mylifesucks A totally defeated me and my gloating girlfriend in the background.  Boo~ As in all relationships, when it is futile to resist, you give in. And all will be good. I was too exhausted to fight back and just wanted to zzzz even when Peachy still wanted to play.  Gosh, she is older yet she is wayyy more of an energize bunny than me.   The only two instances where I am able to be a tad bit bossy are when… 1. The real boss Peachy is finally tired.. (and it takes a good while) Or …

Our ECP outing…

We had a little family outing to the East Coast of the little red dot! As nice as the photos looked, it was a pretty circuitous journey getting there.  Well, you see, the intention for this outing was to attend a pets events at ECP. And since we are commuting from the northwest to the far east, mummy wanted to go cycling as well. We decided to fit mummy’s and daddy’s foldable bicycles plus Sam’s little bike seat into GrandDaddy’s sedan.  And boy, was it a challenge.  Firstly, bringing two foldable bikes, a bike seat and a not-so-obedient dog down the lift wasn’t exactly  a piece of cake. When we finally made it down, my parents spent a good twenty minutes trying to fit the bikes into both the back seats and the boot of the sedan. I swore I heard mummy heaved a sigh of relief when she realized that everything could fit afterall.  Secondly, we discovered that mummy’s bike got slightly damaged during the transportation from NYC and that tyres of both bikes …

West Coast Park Dog Run…

As a New Yorker, I was a frequent dog run goer. When we moved back, mummy was pretty keen to check out the dog run scene in Singapore. After some research, she found several dog runs and on a lovely weekday afternoon, we set out to explore the one nearest to us – the West Coast Park Dog Run, Hee, it was a nice little a family outing. Daddy’s two lovely nieces (which are also my human cousins), Grandmummy and Mummy tagged along. Just for me. *BEAMS~* While the dog run is opened to public, there are certain regulations to abide to. As I am just a harmless Jack Russell Terror, none of the breed restrictions applied to me and I was good to use the dog run.  The dog run is crazy big! And unlike, the cement/gravel/asphalt texture commonly found in dog runs in NYC, it is GRASS!! REAL soft GRASS. *Wriggley dance*   Unfortunately for my poor parents, (But extremely awesome for me) the grass was very muddy! No thanks to the thunderstorm …

The men of the households…

I obviously wear the pants in the Lim Household.  But, there’s another boss in the Loo Household – GrandDaddy (who apparently has even more say than me. -_-) So, I did what smart doggies do – I charmed him! And we became great friends! Or TV companions rather.  Hee, nothing beats spending a good weekend afternoon with GrandDaddy watching TV and getting endless tummy rubs. Sigh. Life~

My nice little weekend..

Now that we have finally settled down in the sunny little red dot, our weekends are becoming more structured and my parents are starting to spend more time with me, doing things I adore (their main aim is to tire me out actually). We went to K9 Kulture (at Turf City) and were pleasantly surprised to find it empty on a lovely Saturday afternoon. I pretty much had the pool to myself for the good half of the hour, before several other little dogs came in. I was too obsessed with my monkey to be too bothered with other dogs, even when another Jack Russell decided to join me on my swim. (I was more concerned she was eyeing on my monkey, but it turned out that she just enjoyed swimming beside other dogs.) After a good hour of workout, we settled down in the cafe and while my parents had coffee, I was served yummy liver brownies!  We chilled at the cafe for about an hour before finally heading to Auntie Shoon’s place for …

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR…

My grandmummy (Paternal) bought me a new outfit for the lunar new year.  Unfortunately, while all the adults are absolutely amused by how cute I look in the outfit, I certainly wasn’t very happy. I HATE wearing clothes.  So, I was really pissy when mummy put it on.  -_- Throwing dirty looks at mummy. Seeing how unpleased I was, mummy gave me a pep talk about the benefits of wearing the outfit – acting cute allows me to collect more ang baos containing $$! Really? *Beams* She demonstrated by giving me my very first ang bao for the season.  Woohoo~ (Hee, but I decided to be cheeky nonetheless and thus stuck my tongue out.) Okay, a more serious look. After which, we went on to practice the new year greetings. Sam: “HAPPY NEW YEAR. GONG XI GONG XI.” Once we were set, we started doing our rounds (house hopping) to collect ang baos.  We started with my paternal grandmummy’s place. DONE! Next, we headed to (maternal) grandma’s place. DONE! Mummy decided to let me off …

My last week in New York… (Part I)

This is officially my last week in NYC. My parents are moving back home to Singapore. And yap, I’m moving from the Big Apple to the little red dot half way round the globe.  Anyway, since it’s my last week, mummy decided to make it a special week and bring me to places in the city that I frequent and love. Hence, I’m going to share my final few adventures in the city over the next few days.  We hopped on the train on a lovely winter day to…. Union Square Park!!! Actually, mummy wanted to visit the Christmas market there. So she ended up dragging me, daddy and grandmummy there.  But hey, I’m not complaining..  because… It’s a squirrel heaven! Woohoo~~~ Dang.. check out how fat the well-fed squirrels are.. *drools* So I embarked on my hunting spree and was busy squirrel hunting. Nope, not here… How about here?  nope…  After a good ten minutes of futile challenging squirrel hunting, we decided to head into the market. The market was so crowded that daddy decided …

Sam’s swim Updates!

Hee, it’s been while since I started swimming and I’m sure everyone’s curious with how I’m doing. So here’s a little update.  I’m still a little hesitant about getting in the water on my own. But decided to do it anyway. PS: I’m an official monkey rescuer. Mean mummy would toss the poor monkey into the water and Sam the hero would go to his rescue. Hero Sam getting ready to take the leap. Jump! Wheeee~~ BIG SPLASH!! Swim away~ Heading over to the poor little drowning monkey. Almost there~ Hang in there monkey! Got him! Bringing the poor little monkey to shore.  Horrid mummy decided to up the challenge and tossed two poor monkeys in the water.  Nooooooo~ Deliberating hard on which one to rescue.  Green or purple?! Ahhhh…   Sigh. I decided to save the purple monkey afterall.  Bringing him to safety. I basically spent the whole half hour trying to rescue the poor monkeys from mummy’s torture. Sure was rewarding! It sure is tiring being a hero! Oh oh oh ..did you …
