The JRTS go hiking!

Mummy took an insane leap of faith and gamble and brought Pecan ah ma along for her very first Jack Russell Mania outing to the Green Corridor. Yap, you didn’t hear me wrong.  We actually brought the crazy smelly old lady to an outing with many other dogs. Not just other dogs, but fellow Jack Russells! It’s like crazy meet crazy. Of course, there were initial doubts if it was too much for her to handle.  But after some consideration, our parents decided to take the plunge and went right for it. Well, there was always Plan B if it didn’t work out – go back home.  (Shhh, lazy Daddy was secretly rooting for that lor) #mydaddysucks And guess what, Ah ma did beautifully.  In fact, she was perfect. She walked and walked and walked, alongside many others.  I swear I saw tears in Mummy’s eyes.  #yayayayaIexaggeratela But nonetheless, Mummy was damn proud of Pecan. So am I.  Getting ready for the hike! We kept our distance in the beginning to ensure that ah ma …

Sam’s Pick: Sunny Heights (Animal World) Swimming Pool!

Swimming is a weekly affair at the Loo Lim Household.  Every saturday, we would pack our swimming gears (including Monkey and Monster!) and head out to our usual pool. Sounds routine huh… Maybe not… Because… our favorite pool just undergone an extreme makeover. From what was formerly known as K9 Kulture to THIS fabulous pool under Sunny Heights (Animal World)! Awesomeness to the max! Gone are the rough surfaces, slippery slopes, protruding nails and dirty water. And say hello to new (and gorgeous) tiles, easy steps, cool (but a little scary) water features and comfy seats for our parents to chill! How not to like~ In fact, we absolutely love it! Pecan ah ma giving it her grin of approval. Mummy was actually a little concerned that we might take some time to get used to, especially since they removed the slope and put steps in instead. (It’s safer this way!) Thankfully, not only was I not deterred by the steps, I wasted no time and got right into my monkey rescue missions instantly. Yes, …

JRM’s 12th Anniversary Party!

Mummy and Daddy brought me to Jack Russell Mania‘s 12th Anniversary Party over the weekend! Unfortunately, we had to leave the grumpy old lady, Pecan. But oh well, I promised her that I’ve twice the fun just for her. Hehehehe… The event was held at Toa Payoh South Community Club. It was quite a contrast from last year which was at West Coast Park. Though I very much prefer to run on grass, our parents were quite glad that at least I would go home mud and more importably, tick free. Oh well….  Thankfully there was plenty of space and once my parents let me off-leash…  zoooooommmm… #youcannotcatchme I was having so much fun running around that my little ears agreed too! Sam the Jack Russell Curl! The thoughtful organizers even set aside a paddling pool for the pooches to cool off! Too bad for me, my parents only allowed me to have a quick soak before they chased me away. Wonder why? Hehehe, I have a history of peeing in waddle pools since my NYC …

Sam’s Day Out – Happenstance Cafe

It’s been a while since we had a Sam’s day out! For a change, my parents decided to leave Pecan ah ma at home and spend a long nice day with me. Yap, just me! Hooooray~ Of course we had to take the opportunity to visit a new Sam-welcomed venue, the Happenstance cafe! This time round, we also asked a special guest and his family to join us for our brunch quest! (You’ll find out who shortly!) We arrived seconds before opening hours, so we had to hang around the fence for a while. And when the doors opened, I couldn’t wait to explore the cafe! Located along Opal Crescent, it’s hard to believe from the outside that this is actually a pet-friendly cafe. For a change, rather than the typical washed-out/Ikea-ish decor that many pet cafes have, Happenstance has a clean industrial vibe that is up Mummy’s alley. (She couldn’t stop staring at the brick wall -_-) It could easy pass off one of the up-and-coming cafe that the hipster crowd would love. A …

Sam’s Pick: A Dog’s Life Salon

Dearest Mummy took an off day on a lovely weekday last week.  And we were overjoyed to be able to sleep in on a Tuesday and were anticipating that we would be going somewhere fun with Mummy for the entire day. Just when we couldn’t wait to find out what’s up next, we sensed that something was not right as Mummy wouldn’t stop making us pose in various positions. (And that felt awfully familiar) And that rang a bell…. *den den den den* Nooooooooooo~ Yap, we were 101% right. Our little bubble burst.  #resigned #mylifesucks #mummyishorrible Well, in a way, Mummy did surprise us a little.  Instead of our usual salon, she brought us to A dog’s life pet salon that is located at Tiong Bahru.  So atas~ Now we are officially hipster dogs too! When we saw the exterior, we definitely had to give it a paws up for its decor!  Who wouldn’t love a “Dog Parking’ section outside a store? In fact, it’s brilliant! Except that we can’t park ah ma there.  She will …

Brunch @ W39

Seeing how much Pecan ah ma has improved, Mummy decided to take a leap of faith and bring us out for a brunch appointment! Off we go!!! #roadtrip We were so excited and had no idea where we were heading to! We used to have to travel far just to find a Sam-welcomed brunch place. But lucky for us, Mummy managed to find a Sam-welcomed cafe in the west!! It’s none other than W39, a pet-friendly Bistro & Bakery! Actually, Mummy is quite familiar with this joint! She has visited this place numerous times for work and has come to realized that although it is a pet-friendly cafe, there ain’t always many dogs around. Not only was it relatively close by, it was a perfect place for ah ma! Besides being the first brunch outing for ah ma since she graduated from training, we even invited a special guest to tag along! Hee, we were excited just waiting for his arrival! It was none other than our furry cousin, RUSTY! Lil’ Rust is a Silky Terrier …

Outing to West Coast Park Dog Run!

We typically spend our saturdays swimming. But since we’ve an exciting pool party tomorrow, Mummy decided to bring us to the WCP dog run instead!  So we dragged Daddy out to have some outdoor fun with us! (He wasn’t too pleased as usual) When we got there, we were super lucky! It was totally empty! I swore I could hear Mummy cheering. Pecan ah ma isn’t dog friendly. Hence, our parents had chosen the ungodly hour of 1pm to head to the outdoors, with the hopes that other owners aren’t as insane as them and thus, there will be no other dogs.  Well, in the occasion that there are people as crazy as her, Mummy does have a backup plan! She and Daddy will split up (ie. she’ll continue to walk ah ma outside while I enter the park with Daddy).  Needless to say, she was over the moon to find it empty! Guess she wasn’t the only one… We were pretty excited too! We spent a good ten minutes exploring and claiming the vicinity …

Happy birthday Smiggle!

Remember Smiggle, the American Cocker Spaniel who had a crush on me? I was actually invited to her birthday present last weekend. #cannothelpthatIampopular Hee, her party was held at Paw Pet-radise as well.  Although it was held at the same venue, I was really impressed that her buffet spread of dog goodies was different from that of Cole’s.  Plus, I love how nice the presentation is. My only complaint – the yummy food was placed too high on a wall-table. Like that how I reach?! In the end, I had to rely on Mummy to get food for me. Likewise, the humans were stealing food meant for the dogs!! I saw Mummy and her group of friends going for second, third and even fourth servings of the fruits that were meant for us! PUI how can?! Happy birthday Smiggle! One more with the little birthday girl! Not only did I have a great spread of food, we were each given a Fetch-Box with a plushie in it as a take-home gift! Can’t decide which to …

Our lives through an iPhone – Our weekend!

It’s a pity weekends are so short. But just having two days isn’t going to stop us from having a fulfilling weekend! We started our Saturday at Grandmummy’s! Unfortunately, we also started on the wrong foot and got punished for being mischievous.  #notmyfault Wonder why?  Pecan ah ma was barking at the neighbor who just came home and I decided to join her on her rant.  Like that also got punished. Pui~ Thankfully, Mummy let us off after a quick lecture! Wheeee~ Pecan ah ma attempting to score brownie points by acting cute. As for me, I vented my anger (for being maligned) on Angry Bird! (which also happened to be ah ma’s favorite toy) Ho ho ho… When all was forgiven and forgotten, our parents whipped us away and brought us for a swim! Pity we got caught in the rain doing so. #soakedchicken It started raining cats and dogs and our parents had no choice but to end our weekly highlight earlier. Even worse, Mummy had to bathe us at home! Yucks! Pecan …

Our lives through an iPhone – Bishan Park!

Pecan’s trainer wanted our parents to expose her to other dogs (from a safe distance) to work on her reactivity. Thus, our devoted parents brought us here for a walk in Bishan park! They actually woke up at 7.30am on a Sunday morning for this! #myparentsaredogslaves Though they did have to drag my lazy ass out of bed, it was all worth it! I did get some playtime in the dog run (accompanied by Daddy of course), while Pecan and Mummy worked on ah ma’s training.  Pecan did great and only reacted to one out of the four dogs she met! Kudos ah ma! Keep up the great work!
