Crafting duo strikes again – Paw Print Keepsake

Wtith the haze situation deteriorating, I was stuck indoors all day (Limited to quickie walks lasting no more than ten minutes, a far cry from my usual routine).  Besides too many games of fetch, there was nothing much to do. I was almost dying of boredom. So I approached Mummy and asked that the crafting duo do something fun.  Mummy: “What shall we do then?” Sam: “Let’s do something with.. my paw!” Coincidentally, mummy bought a Sculpey Keepsake Deluxe Pawprint Kit from Art Friend a couple of days ago! Time to put it into good use! The kit comes with clay, a ring (for the shape and size), a small rolling pin, a detail tool and a ribbon. The clay is only sufficient for one application, but mummy says that we could always get more clay from Art Friend. Let’s see how this goes before we decide if we are gonna do it once more. Let’s get the ball rolling! To minimize mess and to keep the project within my reach, mummy decided to do it on …

The best thing on Earth.. AMAZON!

We all know how awesome Amazon is. And we also know what an online shopaholic Mummy can be. So when we got wind that Amazon’s Global Shipping to Singapore is free for purchases above USD$125, you bet all hell broke loose! Within days of learning possibly one of the best news Mummy had have this year, she was in front of the iMac online browsing. AND.. A week after that fateful night, a lovely brown package arrived at our door step!  Using my very cute paw-print, I signed and received it. Nope, I swore I didn’t bark at the mailman. Okay, maybe just one bark. Fine. TWO. I was all excited to see what was in it! Ta-dah~  (Yeah, green is mummy’s new black) I was in awe of the purchases. But I wasn’t sure if they were meant for me. Mummy: “Duh. Of course it’s for you.” *Huge huge HUGE smile* Mummy is da best! Time to explore and see what goodies are in there! Presenting the LOOT! Safemade Products! This company produces durable …

Made with Love – No Bake Coconut Treats

This is the dog version of the local tea-time snack Ondeh Ondeh! Actually, Mummy saw the recipe off Pretty Fluffy and felt that it reminded her too much of one of her favourite treats. Hence she decided to make it for me. Plus, the ingredients were pretty similar to that of the Anzac, so mummy didn’t have to buy any new stuff!  (Well, she did replace the coconut oil with the Olisana we already had and used desiccated coconut flakes instead of fresh finely shedded coconut.) As we didn’t have a food processor, mummy decided to use the food blender, with a pretty underwhelming outcome sadly.  It was difficult to blend/mix the oats and as a result, only those at the bottom were well combined. (Time to invest in a food processor!) With the limited successful mixture, she was only able to make SEVEN coconut treats! So precious! Posing with my best smile! Hoping to be able to eat them quicker! As usual, she just had to make me wait. Boo.  I finally flashed out my …

Sam’s Day Out – III Cafe

Daddy had to work today, hence, Daddy-substitue my girlfriend mummy’s friend, Auntie Q joined us on our quest this week!  We ventured to a busy stretch of shophouses, near Siglap, to a nice little Sam-welcomed venue – III Cafe! Opened in December 2012, this open-concept second floor cafe is fully air-conditioned and pets like Sammy Loo are welcomed to roam off-leashed! Hooray! Waiting to head in… Check out the huge space for me to run around!  The down side was that there was a small children party happening. Interestingly, that group of people didn’t have a single dog. Guess they were attracted to the spacious venue too. Unfortunately for me, I had to be kept on leash till the crowd dispersed as mummy wasn’t too keen for me to go sniffing around the kids.  Boo~ We were initially seated at a window seat with normal dining chairs and I had to sit on the floor. Luckily for me, a booth seat opened up and we shifted over.  Of course, I got myself comfortable pretty quickly! …

Bishan Dog Park

After brunch @ Grub, we set off to explore the park. We walked and walked and walked till we arrived at… a DOG RUN! Okay, I was kidding. The weather was just insanely warm and the sky was piercing blue as there was close to ZERO cloud cover. The sun was just scorching hot. So we did what smart people, like myself, would do – we drove from a carpark to another carpark.  *BEAMS* Bishan Dog Run is located at Bishan Park 2 and comprises of two enclosures, one for small breeds and the other for larger ones. As per the AVA ruling, certain breeds are required to be muzzled before they are allowed me. But nay, doesn’t bother a cute little Jack Russell the least. Without any doubts, my parents brought me right in to the big dog run cos I’m a big big boy (just happened to be trapped in a small, but increasingly fatter body).  The truth is… I’m a bully (HO HO HO ).  I am intrigued by furry little canines …

Sam’s Day Out – Grub…

Sam-Welcomed hangout of the week is… GRUB! Grub is a newly opened restaurant located in Bishan Park, making it a great brunch choice on a lovely Saturday afternoon like today! The restaurant focuses on cooking with natural ingredients that are responsibly produced and obtained. Kudos to its effect on social responsibility! It was pretty packed that morning and though we didn’t have to wait, we had to share the table with a friendly couple. The whole outdoor area is dog-friendly. Unfortunately, the distance between the tables was a little close and that made it kinda awkward for us as we were somewhat concerned that the table beside ours was a tad bit afraid of me.  (Like seriously … Grrrrrrrr) Anyway, we got by.. and nope, I ain’t bite no one.. =P The menu was a little limited and we didn’t have much to choose from the brunch selections. Plus, one of the items that my parents wanted (The Tasmanian mussels & chorizo stew) wasn’t available. Boo~ Service was also lacking as it took them a …

Made with Love – Anzac Biscuit Dog Treat

Inspired by this Anzac Biscuit Dog Treat recipe on Pretty Fluffy, mummy decided to make me some treats again! Hooray~ Oh, Anzac Day doesn’t mean anything to us, in fact, I have never heard about it till this.   Mummy just felt that this was a real easy treat to make, hence she chose to bake it for me! A quick wiki about it showed that it is a day to commemorate all Australians and New Zealanders who served and sacrificed their lives during wars, conflicts or peacekeeping operations. What a meaningful day! *Salute* But the truth is.. i’m just happy that there is homemade food for me.  Ha. Anyway, here’s our work-in-progress. The ingredients required and the steps needed are all mentioned on the link above.  Do check it out if you are interested! After a quick bake, the biscuits were ready! The fragrance of the coconut and apple filled the kitchen the moment mummy opened the oven and I swear I started drooling at that very moment. Unwillingly posing for the shoot. “I …

Sam Around The House – Our Industrial Organizer Cabinet!

Introducing the industrial organizer cabinet from Like That One! My parents (mummy mostly) fell in love with this piece of furniture the moment they set eyes on it. It was a exact fit for Mummy’s vintage industrial theme of our home’s decor with the metal drawers and the wooden frame. Moreover, it was a perfect fit for the empty space between the mirror and the TV console! And no one’s gonna complain about extra storage space with style. Hee, I’m trying really hard to follow the instructions of the painting we brought back from NYC!  (It’s a gift from Uncle HL and Auntie E!).  Sit. Stay. SMILE! The only downside of this is that the base of the cabinet is a little higher than ideal – which means that my toys kept rolling under and getting stuck. Sadly, I’m a little too fat tall to fit under and I can only bark for my parents to rescue my toys. Not surprisingly, my parents ain’t too happy with that.  Other than that, this piece is a real conversation …

Sam’s Day Out – Cafe Melba!

Located at Goodman Road, Cafe Melba is our Sam-welcomed hangout of the week!  A quiet fusion restaurant that serves Australasian dishes, we found it quite a contrast from the usual hectic buzzing food places we frequent. There was no constant flow of cars, nor ridiculously huge crowd of people, just the restaurant and a large plot of empty grassland. Altogether, there is a calming and tranquil vibe to the place that captivated us almost immediately!  While the cafe has a good reputation of being children (there’s even a bouncing castle to entertain them!) and dog-friendly (we saw three other dogs!), we were a little disappointed that we weren’t given a nice dog bowl with ice cold water. Though mummy is always well-prepared (with the collapsable dog bowl), we thought that the little touch (like Jones did) would add tons of brownie points. But nonetheless, I was bought over by the lush green field in front of the patio and I could not take my eyes off it.  Oh, Daddy’s friend, Uncle J tagged along for the brunch date and …

Made with Love – Mini Omelette for Sammy!

Another reason I love weekends – I get yummy made with love meals!  This week’s special was inspired by a recipe from Pawsh Magazine! It’s yummy mini Salmon Omelette! Ingredients needed are: – Two Eggs – A few slices of smoked Salmon – One small carrot and a floret of brocoli; finely chopped (The original recipe calls for green peppers, but mummy isn’t confident that I’ll be interested in that, hence she decided to replace that with other veggie choices that I kinda like.) This is yet another hassle free recipe that is really easy to make. Simply crack the eggs directly into a lightly greased (Mummy used olive oil) ramekin, before adding all the other ingredients and then mix everything together. Wala~ That’s it. (Though I have to admit that the mixture before stirring doesn’t exactly look appetizing.) Oh oh, mummy added a pinch of parsley just to give it a taste of herb. Once evenly mixed, just place the ramekin in the pre-heated oven and wait.  Impatiently wait… *Trembles* And after 15 minutes, …
