Pet-friendly: Everything with Fries

If you’re a long time reader cum fan of *ahem* yours truly, you would’ve noticed that since Pecan ah ma joined our family we have ceased our pet-friendly cafe outings. #thickskinsam #scarlygotnolongtimereaderstheninoface #donttellme It is because Pecan has a bit of a barrier frustration.  Which means she has the tendency to react by barking and lunging when she is unable to interact with the object of interest (be it another dog or human). This happens especially when she is on leash. Hence, alfresco dining where dogs will be tied to the table (as opposed to a pet cafe where we will be off-leashed) ain’t exactly suitable for dogs like her. #sotroublesomecan  We’ve been working on her barrier frustration and are really pleased with her progress. #shegotbetterbutigotworse #shemusthavespreadittome Despite that, Mummy is still rather hesitant to bring us to pet-friendly cafes… That was until they walked passed… Everything with Fries at Holland Village. Daddy is a sucker for fries and the dessert menu caught sweet-toothed Mummy’s eyes.  Our parents just had to stop and give it a …

Paw Pet-radise is BACK!!

Our little fragile hearts died a little the day we learnt that Paw Pet-radise was closing. Afterall, it was one of the first few pet cafes I went to.  In fact, it took Pecan’s virginity (of pet cafe visits la) too lor. #okaythatsoundsgross #tryingtobedramamama We probably cramped in like… three visits in it’s last month of operation. #machiamendoftheworldlor But but but…. You know what…. apparently, Mummy told us that Paw Pet-radise has reopened! WHEEEEEEEEEE! #wrigglydance  We couldn’t wait to get our little paws there! #sokiasuthatwewentduringthesoftopeningweek Although it is still located at it’s original location (at Balestier), it got a little facelift! The most noticeable difference, is the introduction of a solid partition at the entrance. Say bye-bye to the flimsy gate! No more greeting the new dog via a fence. #yespecanwearelookingatyou Not to mention that this is certainly more secured. Gone are the large sofas as well! With that outta way, there is more space for the dogs to wrestle and play. Our parents did comment that the new furniture isn’t as comfortable though. But …

Dog-friendly staycation at the Regent

So I admit.  I’ve been experiencing some sort of a writer’s block.  That clearly explains the lack of post in the recent weeks. #dontgiveuponme #thewriterinmeneedsabreakla To help me recharge and re-gather my creative juices, our parents decided to check us into a dog-friendly hotel for a short getaway. Wheeeeeee….. This time… they chose The Regent Singapore for our dog-friendly staycation! The Regent Singapore allows up to two dogs per room, with a combined weight of not exceeding 35kg 15kg. (APOLOGIES: We initially thought that it was 35kg as that was mentioned to us by the staff whom we spoke to over the phone. The kind people from Regent’s PR team dropped us an email to clarify that the weight limit is actually 15kg instead. Sorry about that!) #blurmummy #mybad Oh oh, best part of all, there isn’t any additional charges for having a pet (as cute as me) in the room. #daddy’spocketissmiling Check-in was easy breezy. The only difference was that we had to fill up a pet policy form. To make things even easier, …

GDAB Dog Challenge (25 April 2015)

We had a blast at Woof-a-thon last weekend.  So when the Guide Dog Association of the Blind (GDAB) contacted us about an upcoming outdoor event, we just couldn’t say no! #yeahtomoredoggieoutings We all know how important our eyes are to us.  Without the gift of sight, there are many things that we will not be able to do.  Unfortunately, there are some among us that are not as blessed as we are. That’s where guide dogs come in. These noble animals dedicate their lives to being the shield, companion and eyes to their visually impaired handler. The International Guide Dogs Day is a day to recognise the importance of guide dogs within our society.  In line with the International Guide Dogs Day, GDAB is organising their very first GDAB Dog Challenge on 25 April 2015 at Bishan Park, Activity Lawn 1. They are hoping to raise $100, 000 which will be used for the training of the blind and visually impaired as well as their guide dog programmes.  The GDAB Dog Challenge will consist of …

Pet Expo 2015

Hehehe, the most exciting weekend for pooches living in Singapore is here!  ‘Cos it’s PET EXPO 2015. And we went a little cray-cray there today. #justalittlecraycray #ourloot #pleasedonottelldaddy  Yap, Mummy is THAT obsessed with us. As we wanted to beat the crowd (parking woes especially), Mummy decided to bring us there on the first day.  We waited patiently (not) while Mummy went to collect our tickets. #barelycontainingourexcitement This was Pecan ah ma’s first Pet Expo and she was loving it.  #thetailsaysitall As for me, (I was here last year to help Mummy out with her work then) I’m loving how much bigger the fair is this time round. Not only are there more exhibitors, the variety has increased! #gotsparkleinmyeyekindaexcitinglor We started by taking a look at the whole place and planning where to drag Mummy to. #thatisourgameface Of course, our first stop just had to be…. the Tiny Krew Booth!  To meet the love of my life – Jager!!!!! Hehehehehhee!  I missed him so much la. #pecanonlywantedtodrinkfromhiswaterbowl #shenocareabouthim Once we said our “His” and exchanged …

Pets Magazine’s Breakfast & Breed

We love pet events. But nothing beats an event that is catered just for Jack Russell Terriers.  The Breakfast & Breed is a series of breakfast events organised by pets Magazine. This quarterly event is meant for dog owners to mingle around in an intimate setting and learn more about breed-related issues. A vet and a trainer are invited to discuss medical and training concerns. We were very excited when we found out that the chosen breed to kickstart the series was none other than us… the awesome Jack Russell Terrors. Erm, I meant terriers. Plus, it was held at one of our favourite pet cafes – Happenstance Cafe.  So, we just couldn’t say no when Mummy’s ex-colleagues invited us to grace the event. #wewillneversaynotofreefood Stupid Mummy almost couldn’t wake up and we were nearly late for the event. #mummyisnotamorningperson Thankfully, seats were allocated beforehand. We quickly settled down and waited patiently for the first talk to begin.  #treatsdowonders Auntie Kristina from Puppy Colours Academy (Pecan’s trainer) was invited to speak at the event too! …

Sam’s welcomed: Pet-friendly Ah B Cafe

After months and months of anticipation, the Ah B Cafe is finally opened! Woohoo~ If you’re wondering what it is, it’s actually a pet-friendly cafe that is located in Sunny Heights (where we swim every weekend).  As happy as we are, I think Mummy’s more excited. After all, there’s finally a nice place for her and Daddy to have brunch at before being dragged to the pool by us. The decor of the place is really simple and clean and we took to it immediately. Mummy’s really pleased that it’s extremely spacious too.  Although the washroom is outside, the cafe has a sink areas for the humans to wash their hands, making it really convenient. We quickly made ourselves at home. Besides the usual table and chairs, there’s a separate (shoes off) seating area that consists of comfy beanbags!  We even managed to fit into one. #Iamstuck #Iknowwhatyouarethinkingmummybutwedonotneedabeanbagathome Unfortunately, the food menu is kinda limiting and there weren’t many options. Plus, we were there a tad early and the soup Mummy wanted wasn’t ready. Nonetheless, …

Dog-friendly Staycation at Conrad!

Edited: Unfortunately, Conrad is no longer dog-friendly wef 1 August 2017. We’re heartbroken that we have one less staycation option, but at least we had a great time there.  Thanks again to all the Conrad staff that made our stay so memorable.  After having a blast at last year’s Capella Staycation, Mummy decided to make a dog-friendly staycation a yearly affair at the Loo Lim Household! woohoo~ #scored #thankgoodnessmummywearsthepantsinthishousehold #luckystingydaddyhasnosay As much as we would love to head back to the heavenly Capella, they do have a one-dog only policy (boo~) and we really don’t want to resort to smuggling Pecan ah ma in. (Especially since we ain’t the quietest dogs around when there’s a pool involved)  Hehehe.  Instead, we decided to head to a hotel that allows two dogs.  Unfortunately, we really don’t have many options.  In fact, there’s only two in Singapore – Hilton Singapore and Conrad Centennial Singapore. (They are actually under the same hotel chain) Both permit up to two dogs (weighing no more than a combined weight of 34kg) in …

Halloween @ Pawlicious Bakery!

I admit. I’ve a slight phobia of Halloween. Whenever I hear that the day is approaching, I pee a little in my (invisible) pants. And the reason is totally man-made. You see, on my very first Halloween, when I was a mere adorable, cuddly little nine month old puppy, my horrible stupid mummy thought it would be fun to dress me up. So she went to the stores and grabbed me … this. Apparently, stupid mummy didn’t get the memo that Halloween is two months BEFORE Christmas.  So, yap, I ended up being Santa’s unwilling helper for Halloween. #Mummyneedsacalendar As if it wasn’t bad enough, it was actually a matching outfit to Mummy’s Santa-rina outfit.  Yap, I was stuck in a tacky matching outfit with my mother. #ultimateloser #pleaseburnthesepictures Oh, and did I mention that she actually brought me to the Halloween Parade in the Village. And I got scared shitless by the zombies in the subway and started barking at them. And there was this guy in a shower curtain stained in blood. And …

Pecan’s first Dog Event – National Geographic Channel Free Pet Shop

After seeing Pecan ah ma’s success during our recent JRT hike, our parents decided to take yet another leap of faith.  They… *drum rolls*…brought ah ma to her very first dog event – The National Geographic Channel Free Pet Shop – that took place over the weekend at Big Splash! And yap, ah ma did amazing once again! She did not snap at a single dog and even proceeded to greet many of them!  Of course, our parents were still on high alert and made an effort to distract her when her posture got too tense and her tail started wagging a tad bit hard. She responded every single time!  Kudos old lady! Ah ma was in such high spirits that she couldn’t stop grinning throughout the event.   And I’m sure she was equally pleased to be enjoying a nice day out with many other canines! There weren’t as many commercial booths as Mummy would like and so we spent most of our time wandering around and meeting fellow doggie instagrammers! (Hi Donna! Hi …
