Made with Love – Dehydrated treats!!

The weekends came and left… but we ain’t complaining…because, Mummy spent it making yummy dehydrated treats for the two of us! (Hehe, and there are plenty of leftovers for the whole week!) Anyway, we were extremely excited when Mummy told us what she had installed for us! To begin with, she started by swinging by the supermarket to buy some fresh meat, which includes chicken gizzards, lean pork, sliced chicken fillet, pork and chicken liver! She took some time out to slice them evenly.  The lean pork and liver sliced easily! But Mummy had a little trouble slicing up the chicken fillet the previous time, so she decided to get pre-sliced ones instead. They are a little thicker, thus require a longer time to dehydrate.  Anyway, a tip from my mother-in-law, Auntie Charmaine: freezing the meat slightly will make it easier and firmer to slice! Once the prep work was done, Mummy simply put the trays in position and got the dehydrator working! Mummy got the Open Country Pet treat maker from Amazon when we …

Donut’s replicas

So, Pecan ah ma finally misplaced Donut. WAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA…. (oops… cannot appear so evil…) Ahem, I mean awwwwww~ And she was walking around aimlessly for a few days. Of course, Mummy was as upset about the missing toy as ah ma was.  Hence, it was not at all surprising when Mummy came back with not one, but two Donut replicas! O.M.G. I wasn’t too impressed in befriending ah ma’s new friends until Mummy told me some great news.. Yap, one of them is for me! Wheeeeeeeeeeee~ I initially chose the green one. But of course, Pecan decides that the grass is greener on the other side and headed for mine instead. Oh well, no point fighting with crazy old ladies.  So I happily picked up the brown one and headed to my little corner to enjoy gnawing on it. Was having a great time….  until… the ah ma decides that she wants my spot too. AHhhhhhhhhhhhh…. As usual, after Mummy had a good laugh at my plight, she slowly lured ah ma away and I had …

Pecan’s little quirks….

We usually try to keep our blog posts light-hearted and cheery.  I mean, that’s pretty much how our lives are. But occasionally, there will be certain dog-related encounters that pisses Mummy off (but again, a lot of things pisses that lady off.) and get her really upset. One such incident happened during our night walk today and we just felt the need to mention it here…. For those who have met me and Mummy at doggy events (Thanks for saying hi!!!), one of the most common questions I get is: “Where’s Pecan ah ma?” Don’t let her cute (PUI~) little face deceive you.  Unlike me, Pecan ah ma is actually not dog-friendly, at all. While she is the sweetest little thing to humans (even to annoying kids), she cannot handle the sight of another dog.  Things weren’t easy from the start. Since bringing ah ma home with us, Mummy and Daddy had to deal with the endless little squabbles that happened between us which usually ended with me screaming like a girl. We fought at …

Dumpling for Dogs!

Mummy came home with something weird looking today. I had no idea what the hack it was.  But somehow, Pecan ah ma seemed to be over the moon and couldn’t stop dancing around when she saw it. In fact, she was so excited that she couldn’t stop smiling. As for me, I’ve no freaking idea what this was.  I mean, it looked like a green solid rock with a sting tied around it.  I was rather wary of it.  Hm, was Mummy gonna use it to knock my head when I get into mischief? Somehow, I just couldn’t understand why ah ma was so happy. But again. she is kinda crazy. Seeing my apprehension, Mummy suddenly remembered something –  I am an ABCD (American Born Chinese Dog). Come ‘on, I bark in an accent k and I run away the instant I see durian.  As what Uncle Bernard (one of mummy’s friend) always says, I am a Siao Ang Mo (a crazy westerner) since my name is SAM. Mummy couldn’t stop laughing when she saw …

Cat wanted…

When my parents moved to NYC, Mummy told Daddy that she wanted a dog. Without any hesitation, Daddy said yes. So here I am. When we moved back to Singapore, Mummy told Daddy that she wanted a SECOND dog. (So demanding hor~) Daddy said no for a while before he saw Pecan ah ma’s photo. Then he said yes, reluctantly. So here’s ah ma. After we got ah ma, Mummy told Daddy she wanted a cat.  (She is totally pushing her luck) Daddy said no. After a while, he remained a firm no. Of course Mummy didn’t give up. And when Auntie Charmaine rescued a little ginger kitty (lil’ Weasley), Mummy thought that it was time to try again using a different approach. This time, she needed me on her side.  So, on a fateful afternoon, she brought me to meet Weasley. A sweetheart he is, but an angel I am not. (Plus Daddy stuffed me some treats with a little instructions) In a nutshell, I did not get along with Weasley, not at all. …

Our lives through an iPhone – Sam @ Work

When Mummy broke her S3 on purpose, erm, accidentally, she knew she just had to get an iPhone again. And boy, I’m sure glad she did! Especially since, she has started using her iPhone to capture our week!  It’s quite difficult and certainly impractical to carry her DSLR everywhere she goes. Hence, it’s a real delight that she can now use her phone to capture moments that she might otherwise miss. Best of all, the images looked great (I mean the model plays a huge part too la~) and certainly blog-worthy!  So I was wondering, why not start a series of posts of our lives through an iPhone! #geniusSam Keep a lookout for short entries throughout the week to find out what mischief we have been up to! Anyway, I lent my paw to Mummy for one of her shoots at work.  Besides being showered with tons of love by her awesome colleagues, I also caught up with my favorite second favorite (sorry, but Daddy is staring at me from his corner) man in the world, …

Our weekend treat – Junk food

It’s time for our weekend treat again!!!  Wheeeeeeee~ This week, Mummy got really really lazy and decided to buy something off the shelf.  Being a sucky for dog-related stuff, Mummy couldn’t resist buying these while at Cold Storage.  At first glance, Mummy knew that these probably won’t be any good quality treats. But she was bought over by the bowls and decided that they were worth the money anyway. #mymummyisasucker I got first pick!  So of course, I’m gonna take ORANGE! Since it is my colour after all. Plus, it’s cheese flavoured! How to say no. Pecan ah ma looking pleased with her green bowl! Plus it’s peanut butter!! Yumz. I couldn’t wait any longer and headed straight for the treats the moment Mummy opened it.  She ended up having to pull me away. “Noooo..it’s mine!!”   Enticing isn’t it? They looked great!  Pecan ah ma agrees man. Check out her drool! Tsk tsk tsk So un-ladylike. Unfortunately, a closer look at the packaging showed that these yummy treats were made using fillers that are …

Must love Jacks…

Every time someone asks Mummy about why she decided on Jack Russells out of the many breeds, she would let out a resigned sigh, take a deep breath and express regret. Then, she would start ranting about our countless antics, e.g. too hyper, feisty, small-dog-syndrome, blah blah blah.  What la~ So not fair right? JRTs are the best breed ever lor.  So to our defense, let me and Pecan ah ma tell you what an awesome breed we are. To begin with, we are super intelligent. So smart so that we can do things on command. Mummy: “Smile Sam~” Sam: “Ay ay~” We can even nod in agreement with your philosophical views. We have the best begging faces. So please don’t bother saying no to us. Wahahahhaha.. We live life and know the best ways to distress. Such as by having a drink or two. (FYI, I’m legal k. I’m four doggie years old, which equates to 28 in human years!) OR  simply sleeping our lives away on our nice cushion… though we secretly prefer …

Made with Love – Bento for Dogs!

We were a little doubtful when Mummy offered to make us dinner. I mean, how not to after the traumatic incident of the jelly. The Apple Jelly ended up okay, but its appearance was an appetite killer.  Hence, we were a little wary about what to expect. But we did what she told us and collected our bento boxes and handed them to her.  The truth was… she is after all the hand that feeds us, so we LL (no other choice). We did feel a little bad when we realized how much effort Mummy went into planning this. Mummy, being a Daiso Auntie, actually went on a shopping spree just to purchase useless items to decorate our bento.  (Okay, now, we are seriously getting a little worried…) Just when we were becoming increasingly uncomfortable about Mummy’s dinner proposition, we discovered a faint light at the end of the tunnel.  And it came in the form of three lovely ladies!  Yap, Mummy’s awesome colleagues (including my beloved Mother-in-law) actually swung by to give Mummy a hand. …
