My demanding mummy…

Mummy fell in love with this homemade Modern Geomatric DogHouse. (source: Home Made Modern) Being the unreasonable person she always is, she decided to request this as her birthday present. I accidentally chanced upon the email she sent daddy. Demanding Mummy.   Poor Daddy. But again, who cares.. since I stand to benefit! =D

Sam’s haircut

Rumor has it that I’m going for a haircut… Noooooooo…..  Mummy always loved my shaggy and unkempt look.  In fact, my look was exactly what convinced mummy to step into the traps of owning a crazy Jack Russell terror. Yes, she is that shallow.  The truth is, how not to love?  That being said, mummy did make the mistake of getting a groomer to shave my coat down in preparation for my first summer in NYC. When she came to pick me, she was convinced that she was given the wrong dog as I looked so different. She was a little heartbroken that she had ruined my cute shaggy look and I looked really unhappy too.  Lucky for us, my coat grew back gradually. (Phew~) Well… I really ain’t too pleased to recall my ‘botak’ (hairless) days. Thank goodness it’s over. -_- Since then, besides getting my eyes hairs and hygiene areas (my cute butt and little weewee) trimmed by groomers, I had not gotten any other haircuts and I kinda liked it that way.  Until …

Made with Love…Frozen Chicken Pops!

After residing in the little red dot for the past 3.5months, I think I’m doing relatively well. I’ve mastered my singlish, made a pawful of doggy friends and visited a good number of dog friendly places. While I’m beginning to consider myself Singaporean, the only one thing that constantly bugs me (and I just cannot get over it) is…the weather.  Yes, the horrid warm warm WARM weather.  Summers in NYC, while warm (perhaps even warmer) were bearable as the humidity was low. Besides, summers last no more than three to four months. Before we even knew it, it was over. Unfortunately for me, both me and the heat are here to stay (Noooooooooo~) and I’ve to learn to cope with it.  My solution?  I lie around the house like a dead dog.  Sad huh? Mummy was browsing through the “You bake ’em dog biscuits cookbook” when she suddenly got excited.  I dragged myself out of my bed to check out what’s causing her excitement. She showed me a recipe she chanced upon and thought that …

My Customized-customized Tote Bag…

Besides customizing our family silhouette pillow from Le Papier Studio, mummy customized another keepsake – a tote bag, using just my silhouette. The artist was really professional and sent a couple of drafts for vetting before sending the final silhouette to be printed.  Check out my silhouette!  Pretty close, ey? Hee, that’s my trademark tail! Though there were a couple of hiccups with the shipment of the order (apparently, the first shipment got lost!), mummy was really thrilled when she finally received the tote bag.  The silhouette looked great and the material of the tote bag was better than she expected. It was really thick and sturdy, great for putting Sam’s many little doggy things (e.g. wipes, food).  The only problem was… the design was a little boring.  Hence, we decided to add some ‘bling’ to it… Under the magic hands and paws of the crafting duo, we present you with an even more customized tote bag! Overall, I was quite happy with the final product.  My only complaint (which also explained why my face was …

Made with Love – Parsley Fresh Biscuits…

Mummy bought a couple of dog food cookbooks from Amazon a while ago.  On the spur of the moment, she picked out the  “You Bake ’em Dog Biscuits Cookbook” and handed it to me. I quickly glanced through (while drooling) and was in awe of the number of recipes and yummy treats available for dogs.  Spontaneously, mummy asked me to pick one recipe for her to try.  I was a little dubious. I mean, while Mummy has been pretty successful with the home made dog treats attempts, she isn’t exactly a baker (I shall not mention her recent failed attempt at baking macaroons…oops).  For her sake (and mine more importantly), I carefully looked through the cookbook again and selected a relatively easy yet super yummy-sounding recipe – Minty Fresh Biscuits (p.105)!  The recipe is pretty straightforward and the ingredients required are really basic. Besides cookie cutters, all we needed were flour (all-purpose and wheat), an egg, milk, olive oil and parmesan cheese. The recipe called for mint flakes but we decided to replace it with parsley …

Crafting Duo presents… Pillow covers!

My parents customized a lovely couch from Sanctuary Dian. Everyone at home is in love with the couch, though I’ve proudly claimed it as mine. However, mummy felt that it does look a little bare. Hence, she decided that it was time for the crafting duo to embark on our next project. Introducing the materials for our project. After a thorough QC, I approved of the materials. Materials: Riley Blake Chevron Fabric from Moods in NYC, Pillowcase from Ikea, Gutterman Sewing  threads. Getting ready at Mummy’s sewing station.  Yes, I did the sewing today. Nay~ Just kidding. Of course, Mummy was the one doing the work and I did my job by staring. The project was pretty simple but due to Mummy’s low XP, there were a couple of hiccups. (e.g. she cut the fabric too small and had to use snaps to keep the pillow covers closed.)  Lousy mummy.  Nonetheless, once she got the hang of it, each pillow cover took no more than half hour to complete.  Posing with the completed pillow covers. …

Little Craft Session…by the crafting duo!

My parents attended the MAAD event at the Red Dot Museum a couple of weekends back to support mummy’s ex-colleague who started her own artwork line, Little Shop of Dreams (L.S.O.D).  Hee, mummy really loves the artwork as they are really simple yet cute. To support her ex-colleague, mummy bought a handful of postcards and a little canvas zip pouch.  Me posing with the loot. When mummy bought the zip pouch, she had every intention to personalize it (for me of course). Hence, when she stumbled upon another crafty booth at MAAD selling alphabet buttons, she couldn’t resist and bought buttons spelling my humble name.  Of course, mummy is the queen of procrastination. And after a good two weeks or so, she finally got down to doing some craft work and attempted to sew the buttons on. Unfortunately, her crafting XP is too low and she couldn’t figure out how to sew the buttons on properly. (Well, to her defence, the fabric covered buttons were pretty challenging to sew. Okay fine, she sucks.) All is …

Made with Love – Home Made Dog Biscuits!!

Under my special request, mummy finally made me some home made dog biscuits!  YEAH! She used a Gourmet Dog treat Maker from Sunbeam she bought from Petsmart in NYC. The dog treat maker looks just like a wafer maker, except that the casing is the shape of dog biscuits! After a quick discussion with me, mummy and I decided to bake – Peanut Butter Dog Treats. The ingredients used were really simple and easy – Peanut butter, wheat flour, baking powder, eggs and water.  The batter was made by simply whisking all the ingredients together, with the help of mummy’s beloved Kitchen Aid Mixer. Once thoroughly mixed together, mummy poured the batter into the tray and closed the maker tightly. After a good 15 minutes of waiting, a batch of four biscuits were ready! Unlike the store bought biscuits which are dry and hard, the home made dog biscuits were more like cakes and were soft and moist. (Which I kinda prefer actually) I couldn’t wait to start eating! Unfortunately for me, mummy insisted on the …

My Annual Health CheckUp!

Under the recommendation of my groomer, Happy Pets Grooming, Mummy brought me to my new vet, My Family Vet, located at Bukit Batok Avenue 4 (A really short walk from Grandmummy’s place!) And guess what, Mummy and I are both in love with Dr. Vanessa Lin! She’s really friendly, personal and extremely patient with the endless questions Mummy bombarded her with. With me, she was really gentle and sweet. (But again, it’s hard not to be when you see a cute face like me. Ho ho ho.) The main purpose of the visit was for my annual heartworm test.  No surprises, I am heartworm Free! I was allowed to take home my heartworm kit as a souvenir! (Mummy was quite fascinated by it and couldn’t wait to show Daddy while I couldn’t care less…) One Line = Heartworm Negative! After a good checkup, a blood test, tons of vaccination, we were good to go! Mummy was really proud of me for not whining nor crying when Dr. Lin examined me! Hee, of course I was greatly rewarded for my good …

West Coast Park Dog Run…

As a New Yorker, I was a frequent dog run goer. When we moved back, mummy was pretty keen to check out the dog run scene in Singapore. After some research, she found several dog runs and on a lovely weekday afternoon, we set out to explore the one nearest to us – the West Coast Park Dog Run, Hee, it was a nice little a family outing. Daddy’s two lovely nieces (which are also my human cousins), Grandmummy and Mummy tagged along. Just for me. *BEAMS~* While the dog run is opened to public, there are certain regulations to abide to. As I am just a harmless Jack Russell Terror, none of the breed restrictions applied to me and I was good to use the dog run.  The dog run is crazy big! And unlike, the cement/gravel/asphalt texture commonly found in dog runs in NYC, it is GRASS!! REAL soft GRASS. *Wriggley dance*   Unfortunately for my poor parents, (But extremely awesome for me) the grass was very muddy! No thanks to the thunderstorm …
