If jacks can fly…

they will look like this. #ahmahassuperpowers #howcomeIdonthave #shejustneedacape Flying through the crowd… And of course, nothing is more important than flashing a million dollar smile as you zoom by. How I wish I can fly. Le Sigh.

Barking Good: Pee-Can-Bites

Anyway, some of you may know that our dearest Pecan ah ma went for a dental scaling recently.  We knew that Pecan ah ma’s scaling was due. But Mummy was rather hesitant as she really did not want to put Pecan under anaesthesia if possible. However, after consulting with as many as four different vets, Mummy got the consensus that the procedure was a necessity. Oh well~  So in ah ma went. (And out went $1.2k from Daddy’s pocket!) Pecan isn’t the most cooperative pooch at the vet (she’s a pain like me!).  #likebrotherlikesister #cannotletthevetbullyuslor So during the initial consultation, Mummy was told that at least three teeth needed to be extracted. There might be more, just that the vet couldn’t tell as of then. But what Mummy didn’t expect was that these many teeth had to go…. YAP, they all belonged to Pecan. #toothfairyisgonnabebroke In case you’re wondering how many came out…. Mummy wanted to keep them, so the vet obliged and packed it for us.  #weirdsouvenirs #cankeepiscankeepjustnotonpecan While Pecan’s bad breath is finally …

Car Safety 101

Okay la, this isn’t exactly Car Safety 101.  Mummy recently made some changes to the way we travel in the car and guess what…  we’re absolutely loving it! This was how we used to ride – shotgun.  And we absolutely loved it, even though our combined weight always triggers the annoying seatbelt warning beep.  Hehehehe… #inotfat #Iisbigboned #itispecan’sfault Best part of car rides then, was when we got to peep out and enjoy a nice breeze. Sam: “The guy is eating an ice-cream!!!” Pecan: “Where? Where?” But things ain’t the same in the Loo Lim Household anymore. #boohoohoo It started with a convo between Mummy and Auntie Kristina (Pecan’s trainer). Auntie Kristina was sharing about how a car seat restraint for her dog possibly saved his life when she got into an accident with him in the car.  And that got Mummy thinking.  In addition, Mummy always judges people who let their kids (especially toddlers and infants) sit on their laps, instead of on child seats. #thatgrindshergears Of course, she would quietly remind herself that …

A Dear Deer Party!

We’re extremely lucky that Auntie Pauline from Howlistic Life has very generously offered to sponsor our little tummies with food and treats! #weneversaynotofood YEAH! After all, we have been long term fans of the many products that her company carries. *wriggly dance* When she sent some of the goodies over, we were over the moon and just had to whip out our party hats and CELEBRATE~~ woohoo~ YAP, WE’RE HAVING A DEAR DEER PARTY! #seeingsomanytreatsmakeusuberhigh We had always been fans of Dear Deer treats!  I mean…look at them!  How to say no?! This was seriously how happy we looked all day while Mummy was busy styling the treats. #happyuntilourmouthscannotclose Here are some reasons why we are such huge fans. #yapmummyiscrazyenoughtocreateaninfographicsforthis #shehastoomuchtimeonherhands Here’s what we got our paws on! (and this isn’t even the full range!) Some tips: If you have an aggressive chewer (or an annoying pooch that wouldn’t leave you alone), we strongly recommend the deer ribs, kneecaps and sinew! And yap, no kidding man. The Deer Kneecap is probably the only thing that …

GDAB Dog Challenge (25 April 2015)

We had a blast at Woof-a-thon last weekend.  So when the Guide Dog Association of the Blind (GDAB) contacted us about an upcoming outdoor event, we just couldn’t say no! #yeahtomoredoggieoutings We all know how important our eyes are to us.  Without the gift of sight, there are many things that we will not be able to do.  Unfortunately, there are some among us that are not as blessed as we are. That’s where guide dogs come in. These noble animals dedicate their lives to being the shield, companion and eyes to their visually impaired handler. The International Guide Dogs Day is a day to recognise the importance of guide dogs within our society.  In line with the International Guide Dogs Day, GDAB is organising their very first GDAB Dog Challenge on 25 April 2015 at Bishan Park, Activity Lawn 1. They are hoping to raise $100, 000 which will be used for the training of the blind and visually impaired as well as their guide dog programmes.  The GDAB Dog Challenge will consist of …

Woof-A-Thon on 12 April 2015!

We’re very honoured to be invited to participate in Woof-a-thon, the first pet walkathon organised by Singapore Heart Foundation! When: Sunday, 12 April 2015 Time: 4pm to 7pm Where: Bishan Park, Grand Lawn 1 (Opposite Dog Run Area) We all know exercising is great for our health. So why not make it fun by doing it with our pets. This is exactly what this event is about! Woof-a-thon aims to advocate the cardiovascular benefits associated with walking, a low-impact physical activity which pet owners are more inclined to partake. #suddenlysoknowledgeable #seeiamsmartone #ionlypretendtobestupid #pecanisreallystupid #itakefrompressreleaseonela Although registration for the Buddy walk has closed for pet owners, participants without pets are still welcome to join in the walk for free! No worries if you’ve pets (and have missed the opportunity to register), there are many other exciting things happening on the spot as well. Needless to say, we are really looking forward to a nice day out with our parents.  Pecan ah ma can’t wait to show off her cool sneakers.  #hengshenotwearingjimmychoos As for me…. I’m stuck …

Pet Expo 2015

Hehehe, the most exciting weekend for pooches living in Singapore is here!  ‘Cos it’s PET EXPO 2015. And we went a little cray-cray there today. #justalittlecraycray #ourloot #pleasedonottelldaddy  Yap, Mummy is THAT obsessed with us. As we wanted to beat the crowd (parking woes especially), Mummy decided to bring us there on the first day.  We waited patiently (not) while Mummy went to collect our tickets. #barelycontainingourexcitement This was Pecan ah ma’s first Pet Expo and she was loving it.  #thetailsaysitall As for me, (I was here last year to help Mummy out with her work then) I’m loving how much bigger the fair is this time round. Not only are there more exhibitors, the variety has increased! #gotsparkleinmyeyekindaexcitinglor We started by taking a look at the whole place and planning where to drag Mummy to. #thatisourgameface Of course, our first stop just had to be…. the Tiny Krew Booth!  To meet the love of my life – Jager!!!!! Hehehehehhee!  I missed him so much la. #pecanonlywantedtodrinkfromhiswaterbowl #shenocareabouthim Once we said our “His” and exchanged …

A day of Lure Coursing!

We finally met the adorable Westies (Klaus, Jasser and Koros, brothers from the same litter!) from the Wooga gang! But this was no simple meet-and-greet…. this was actually an awesome Lure Coursing Session!! #paiseh #icannottellwhoiswho If you’re wondering what lure coursing is (and is too lazy to click on the link above, tsk tsk tsk), it is actually a fast-paced chase sport for dogs.  Using a specialised machine, dogs will run after a ‘bunny’ lure (usually a white plastic bag), that is attached to a line controlled by the device. The machine will run the line and the dogs will chase the lure. Simple as that. Mummy was really excited when she first heard about it. After all, Jack Russell Terriers (like Westies) are hunting dogs and chasing after a prey is in our blood! So, of course she would love to give it a shot! Lucky for us, Auntie Ashley has an extremely cool lure machine! “Wiggley dance” And..we got to try it out today! Woohoo~ #auntieashleysidabest We had to be held back while …

Made with Love: Pumpkin-pork treats

After watching episode after episode of Cupcake Wars (yap, she indulges in trashy shows), Mummy developed an itch for baking.  So, naturally, that means more home made goodies for us! Wheeeeee~ #godblesstrashyrealitytv Introducing our very own Dog-friendly Pumpkin Pork Cookies! And trust us, it is outta the world! #lickspawsinsatisfaction  What you need: This makes about 80 cookies! (Yap, Mummy’s trying to kill us with cookies. But hey, we ain’t complaining.) 3 cups of wheat flour (replace this with a grain-free flour if your dog is prone to allergies) 1 egg 300g of lean pork One half of a pumpkin 2 tablespoons of parsley 1 tablespoon of coconut oil  Do keep some water and excess flour on hand too. And we shall not forget the most important tool of the day – dog-shaped cookie cutters from Muji! What to do: 1. Preheat oven to 175 Degree Celsius. 2. Cut both the pumpkin and lean pork meat into slices and boil till soft and cooked. 3. Blend the mixture into puree form. 4. Pour the puree, flour, …

Pets Magazine’s Breakfast & Breed

We love pet events. But nothing beats an event that is catered just for Jack Russell Terriers.  The Breakfast & Breed is a series of breakfast events organised by pets Magazine. This quarterly event is meant for dog owners to mingle around in an intimate setting and learn more about breed-related issues. A vet and a trainer are invited to discuss medical and training concerns. We were very excited when we found out that the chosen breed to kickstart the series was none other than us… the awesome Jack Russell Terrors. Erm, I meant terriers. Plus, it was held at one of our favourite pet cafes – Happenstance Cafe.  So, we just couldn’t say no when Mummy’s ex-colleagues invited us to grace the event. #wewillneversaynotofreefood Stupid Mummy almost couldn’t wake up and we were nearly late for the event. #mummyisnotamorningperson Thankfully, seats were allocated beforehand. We quickly settled down and waited patiently for the first talk to begin.  #treatsdowonders Auntie Kristina from Puppy Colours Academy (Pecan’s trainer) was invited to speak at the event too! …
