It’s Pecan’s birthday!

Yap, the crazy old woman Empress Dowager turned ELEVEN! In other words, she is technically 60 years old! You know what? Ah ma is actually eligible for the Senior Citizen Concession Card liao! #sheisasoldasgrandmummy It’s unbelievable how old she is.  I mean…. she’s almost THRICE my age and she’s like a energizer bunny! #howcanshebesoold #oldahmastillwannaactyoung Since it was her birthday, of course Mummy had awesome surprises in store for her! Mummy was actually debating whether to throw ah ma a party and invite our doggy friends over. But wait…what doggy friends? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tons of furry buds.  #cannothelpthatIampopular But Ah ma? ERm…. let’s just say she isn’t really a dog-dog.  So to avoid a scenario where we spent $$$ and there’s only me and ah ma (and maybe Snowy) dancing around in an empty cafe, Mummy quickly decided that we should just celebrate this special day ourselves!  And who says we can’t have fun on our own? Here’s how the special day unfolds.. For a start, what’s a birthday party without a …

The toy bucket challenge!

So, we were challenged by The Vanilla Pup, Latte and her owner on Instagram to do the #ToyBucketChallenge. We had to either pour a bucket of stuffies over our heads OR donate $10 to an Animal Welfare Group of our choice. Since it was for a good cause, we immediately said YES! to it.  #challengeaccepted #bringiton Besides, nothing beats being showered with toys. Like literally. Mummy was all geared up and started walking around the house with a bucket to pick up the dead toys that were scattered around the room. To ensure that she did not sabo (cheat) us by putting a rock or two in it, she allowed us to inspect the toys prior to the challenge. #allclear The reason why Pecan ah ma looked blur in the image was that she actually attempted to steal a toy or two away! #itistoybucketchallengenotstealatoychallenge Tsk Tsk tsk… old people huh.. Once we gave her the green light, we got into position…. (Okay, we did switch position after a while… I didn’t want to stand near Daddy …

Our pet monkeys!

Both me and Pecan ah ma have a fondness for a certain animal – Primates! So, knowing that, Mummy decided to buy each of us a pet monkey toy!  Hee, but although we are siblings, we do have very contrasting taste in the types of toys we desire.  Can you tell which is mine and which is ah ma’s? (Left: Latex Monkey Toy from Fetch-box.com, Right: Safari BraidZ Monkey from Kong) If you’ve been following ah ma’s obsession, it will be an easy breezy guess. Yap, Santa, the latex monkey toy, is Pecan’s while Mon-Mon, the stuffie is mine! Pecan ah ma is really mean to her toys.  Not only does she lick them with her stinky sweet saliva (*shrugs*), she even steps on them! #resignedmonkey I certainly wouldn’t wanna be him! #Santahasasuckylife I treat my toys wayyyy better. I usually just hold Mon-Mon in my mouth, shake the hell out of him and tear him apart little by little (I always start with the ears), I mean, play with him. See I so nice …

JRM’s 12th Anniversary Party!

Mummy and Daddy brought me to Jack Russell Mania‘s 12th Anniversary Party over the weekend! Unfortunately, we had to leave the grumpy old lady, Pecan. But oh well, I promised her that I’ve twice the fun just for her. Hehehehe… The event was held at Toa Payoh South Community Club. It was quite a contrast from last year which was at West Coast Park. Though I very much prefer to run on grass, our parents were quite glad that at least I would go home mud and more importably, tick free. Oh well….  Thankfully there was plenty of space and once my parents let me off-leash…  zoooooommmm… #youcannotcatchme I was having so much fun running around that my little ears agreed too! Sam the Jack Russell Curl! The thoughtful organizers even set aside a paddling pool for the pooches to cool off! Too bad for me, my parents only allowed me to have a quick soak before they chased me away. Wonder why? Hehehe, I have a history of peeing in waddle pools since my NYC …

Ikea for dogs!

Mummy loves heading to Ikea for some therapeutic window shopping. Daddy’s pretty okay with that. Except that Mummy’s definition of “window shopping” is a tad different from others.  Yap, she NEVER leaves empty handed. #mummyisashopaholic But of course, being an obsessive dog parent, more often than not, she would end up buying something for us! That’s the reason why you would find her in the kid’s section everything she visits Ikea. Hehehe, in fact, she added some awesome kids toys to my stash during her last visit! Since Pecan ah ma has been leaving her toys around the house and our original toy box is overflowing, Mummy decided to check out some storage solutions for us.  And that’s when these fun baskets caught her attention. (Source: Ikea) And guess what, I think the vibrant colors suit us too! Plus, they finally allow us to stow away ah ma’s many toys. Basket ONE is for her annoying squeaky toys; Basket TWO is for balls (most of these are mine. hehehe); Basket THREE is for Pecan’s stinky …

Our PET Tags

Mummy got her hands on new pet tags for us! “Put it on for me please, MUMMY!” Me and Pecan looking great in our new collars and tags. In case you’re wondering what’s so good about the tags and why we have the same exact tag….  there is something really interesting and special about these two tags… They are actually Smart Phone Enabled Pet (PET) Tag! These PET tags are made with a microchip inside each of them. The amazing thing is that it is the only digital tag in the world that can be scanned using an Android based mobile phone, using the NFC function! So if either me or Pecan ah ma got lost in the streets and you see us, all you have to do is lure us over with a treat (Aiya, very easy one..we are both greedy pigs), switch on the NFC and put the tag beside the phone. A preset customized text linked to a phone number will be reflected on the message function of your phone instantly. Once …

Want a treat? Raise your ear!

It’s our favorite time of the day… It’s time for a yummy yum yum treat!!! And how do you know when I’m excited? My little ears will stand, stand, STAND! #Samthefakefoxterrier Actually, I’m not the only one… Pecan will raise her little ears too! Though I’ve to say that ah ma looks weird.. #ahmathefakebunny Raise your ear if you want a treat! ME ME ME! Somehow, my left ear seems to be stronger and would remain standing no matter how many times I move around.  Ah ma’s ears will just flip up and down.  Looks easy to raise your ear for your treat? The truth is..it took a lot of work! We had to keep jumping up and down for our treats to get our little ears standing! PHEW~ hard work it was. But dang, was it worth it when we finally got the yummy treats in our mouths!

Twelve Nights…

is how long a dog in a Taiwanese shelter has to find a home before he gets put down.  It’s also the title of a documentary directed by Raye and produced by Giddens Ko (九把刀) and Sophia Sui (隋棠). Twelve Nights (十二夜) follows the fates of dogs from the day they are captured and placed in a shelter to the 12th day. While a handful will go on to find a forever home, more often than not, these dogs succumbed to either illnesses that are widespread in the shelter or to the deadline that man has placed upon them. Mummy knew that the film wasn’t going to be an easy watch (she is a crybaby whenever it comes to animal-related stuff), but wanted to catch it anyway. So, she bought a copy and had it mailed over to us. When it finally arrived, Mummy explained the storyline of the movie to us. She was a little undecided if she wanted us to watch it with her as there was a chance that we might be uncomfortable with …

Ah ma’s obsession…

has grown! Seeing how fond of squeaky toys Pecan ah ma is, Mummy just couldn’t stop adding more to the collection. And the newest member of ah ma’s gang of BFFs is… the Hartz Dura Play Bone! Of course ah ma loves it. Not only is it new, the size is just right for her smelly mouth! No thanks to Mummy for indulging in her love for squeaky toys, Pecan has developed a new pastime. First, she leaves her squeaky friends everywhere around the house.  Then, she walks around looking for them, before stepping on them (she treats her friends horribly!) to hear them squeak.  She would repeat the above actions till she finds her flavor of the day.  After which, she would proceed to carry it for god-knows-how long.  No surprises who’s her favorite today. And of course, she has to bring it to bed with her. LE SIGH~ #takeupspaceonly I’m really wishing Mummy would stop indulging in ah ma’s weird obsession and spend the money on treats to fill my little tummy. Fingers …

Proud Members of JRM!

[Disclaimer: the following blog entry contains some of the most unflattering shots of me.] There’s an awesome group for Jack Russells in Singapore called Jack Russell Mania.  In fact, Mummy and myself are Facebook members of the group for quite a while now.  JRTs FTW! Anyway, JRM had a booth at Serangoon CC over the weekend. So, Mummy swung by to show her support as well as to purchase a couple of shirts just for Pecan ah ma and myself. Looks great?? Well, the tricky part was… it comes in just two sizes – S and M.  Mummy went ahead to purchase one of each size. I mean, sounds right since I’m about a size bigger than ah ma. The problem was……. it was not right. NOT RIGHT AT ALL. I look like a freaking SAUSAGE! #notimpressed #NOTimpressed #NOTIMPRESSED On the other hand, ah ma looks like a youngster wearing a cropped top. Life no fair siah. #mylifesucks Of course Mummy had to burst into her evil laughter for a good five minutes, before putting …
