Sam’s Night Out – Paw Pet-radise

After the Dash, we headed to a Sam-Welcomed cafe – the Paw Pet-radise Cafe! This newly opened cafe caters specially to pet owners and their four-legged kids, which means, I got to run free (and wild) in an enclosed open space! *Wriggly dance* The staff is really welcoming and it was pretty obvious that this place was opened by pet lovers for pet  lovers! Even though they were kept busy running and cleaning after us, they did their jobs with huge smiles and even gave us a welcome pat each! Kudos for that!  I absolutely love the attention dogs are showered with here!  The decor of the cafe is kept simple and minimalistic – just ikea-ish tables and chairs and a nice open space in the middle for us to roam around! While I really appreciated the fact that they had a double gate to ensure that rascals, like myself (grinz), wouldn’t dash out of the door, it was placed too close to the actual entrance and that made it a little difficult to get …

Bishan Dog Park

After brunch @ Grub, we set off to explore the park. We walked and walked and walked till we arrived at… a DOG RUN! Okay, I was kidding. The weather was just insanely warm and the sky was piercing blue as there was close to ZERO cloud cover. The sun was just scorching hot. So we did what smart people, like myself, would do – we drove from a carpark to another carpark.  *BEAMS* Bishan Dog Run is located at Bishan Park 2 and comprises of two enclosures, one for small breeds and the other for larger ones. As per the AVA ruling, certain breeds are required to be muzzled before they are allowed me. But nay, doesn’t bother a cute little Jack Russell the least. Without any doubts, my parents brought me right in to the big dog run cos I’m a big big boy (just happened to be trapped in a small, but increasingly fatter body).  The truth is… I’m a bully (HO HO HO ).  I am intrigued by furry little canines …

Sam’s Day Out – Grub…

Sam-Welcomed hangout of the week is… GRUB! Grub is a newly opened restaurant located in Bishan Park, making it a great brunch choice on a lovely Saturday afternoon like today! The restaurant focuses on cooking with natural ingredients that are responsibly produced and obtained. Kudos to its effect on social responsibility! It was pretty packed that morning and though we didn’t have to wait, we had to share the table with a friendly couple. The whole outdoor area is dog-friendly. Unfortunately, the distance between the tables was a little close and that made it kinda awkward for us as we were somewhat concerned that the table beside ours was a tad bit afraid of me.  (Like seriously … Grrrrrrrr) Anyway, we got by.. and nope, I ain’t bite no one.. =P The menu was a little limited and we didn’t have much to choose from the brunch selections. Plus, one of the items that my parents wanted (The Tasmanian mussels & chorizo stew) wasn’t available. Boo~ Service was also lacking as it took them a …

Sam’s Day Out – Cafe Melba!

Located at Goodman Road, Cafe Melba is our Sam-welcomed hangout of the week!  A quiet fusion restaurant that serves Australasian dishes, we found it quite a contrast from the usual hectic buzzing food places we frequent. There was no constant flow of cars, nor ridiculously huge crowd of people, just the restaurant and a large plot of empty grassland. Altogether, there is a calming and tranquil vibe to the place that captivated us almost immediately!  While the cafe has a good reputation of being children (there’s even a bouncing castle to entertain them!) and dog-friendly (we saw three other dogs!), we were a little disappointed that we weren’t given a nice dog bowl with ice cold water. Though mummy is always well-prepared (with the collapsable dog bowl), we thought that the little touch (like Jones did) would add tons of brownie points. But nonetheless, I was bought over by the lush green field in front of the patio and I could not take my eyes off it.  Oh, Daddy’s friend, Uncle J tagged along for the brunch date and …

Sam’s Day Out – Baker & Cook!

Yap! It’s time for Sam’s Day out! Hooray! *Wags tail* This week’s Sam-welcomed hangout is…  Baker & Cook!  (Thanks Auntie Larissa for the great recommendation!) There are currently two branches but we headed to the one at Hillcrest as it is nearer to home. Plus it was pretty easy getting there by car (it’s right behind my parents’ old school!). Parking was a tad bit challenging though.  Baker & Cook is a artisan bakery and foodstore located at Greenwood shop houses. It serves a wide selection of bread and pastries. The fragrance of the dough fills the cosy little shop and I could not stop drooling at the sight of the yummy looking food!  As usual, outdoor seatings were plentiful and though there was a queue, most of the customers were doing takeouts. Hence, there were quite a number of outdoor seats for us to choose from. My parents decided to take a little risk and chose the table that was half-sheltered but at the patio so that I could rest comfortably without blocking the walk-way even …

Sam’s Day Out!

Since both my parents started working and are worried that they might have neglected me, they decided to dedicate one weekend day to be “Sam’s Day Out!”. It is a day where activities are centered around little Sammy Loo (ME!!). It normally kicks off with a Sam-welcomed hunt for a yummy lunch (well, my parents ain’t huge foodies, but they surely can’t do without food!), before ending the day with a slam doing things I adore (e.g. swimming or running around).  Awesome isn’t it? This week’s Sam-welcomed hunt is… L’etoile Cafe – a quaint little cafe hidden in a quiet estate along Owen Road. The nearest carpark was about three minutes away so we took a quick stroll over. Of course, I was head over heels excited to be in a brand new neighborhood! L’etoile is a japanese inspired cafe with a french twist. Mummy was in love with the simple modern decor and the little pop-up booth selling local handmade craft pieces. The ambience of the cafe makes it a great place for a quiet read …
