Our CNY treat!

As per our new tradition, the dogs will get a dog-friendly replicate of a festive human meal!  We were extra looking forward to what yummy treat we were going to get this Lunar New Year. Seeing what a huge Yusheng fan Mummy is, we were actually a little worried that she is going to just serve us shedded raw veggies.  BUT….. lucky for us, she got lazy and instead of whipping something up for us, she decided to order one from a dog bakery! So, she went ahead and ordered a special something from Superdog Kitchen  for us! We were super excited when she told us it had arrived! Me checking out the mystery package… that was none other than a CNY Bak Kwa Tart!!! Knowing that I am a huge Bak Kwa fan, Mummy knew I would absolutely love this tart. And she was so right!! I had my first taste of Bak Kwa last CNY when Granddaddy decided to sneak me some. I was an instant convert. Needless to say, Mummy was really upset with Granddaddy as she …

Cartoon us!!

Remember this? As promised, Pecan finally got her very own customised cartoon version done. In case you are wondering, Mummy ordered both from the same Etsy store.  Thank you Kari (PopDoggie) for the great cartoon caricature!! Too cute isn’t it? We are still waiting for the actual copy to arrive and Mummy even ordered magnets along with it too!! Cannot wait to see them!

HAPPY BARKDAY !!!

Mummy did something really awesome for us for my birthday this year!! For once, the planning started early!  A week before the big day, she sent this lovely photo to the very awesome Pawlicious Pet Bakery! We had no idea what was baking until Mummy came home with this surprise… OUR VERY OWN BIRTHDAY CAKE! How precious is this?! This is no doubt the best cake ever, especially since my last three cakes were blah!  (I actually had an ugly pink one for my second birthday cos she was so last minute. Like seriously~ ) Mummy chose beef as the flavour of the cake and also paid a little more for the lovely bone biscuits around it. Of course we were over the moon! THANK YOU MUMMY AND DADDY! How not to when the figurines are such close resemblance! Pecan with lil’pecan! Hehe, I think the figurine flatters her a fair bit. Maybe that’s how she looked as a pup. Sam with lil’Sam! Kudos for making me so slim! Somemore same size as Pecan ah …

Our Christmas eve dinner…

My parents are crowd-avoiders and heading out on a day like this is an absolute no-no.  Since it was a special occasion and Mummy did get off work early, she decided to step into the kitchen and do some cooking. (Yes, she can cook. Not the best in the world, but not terrible enough to kill) Hee, likewise, to reward us for being great kids for the year (Well, of course, it’s mainly me. Pecan only hopped on the wagon halfway), she actually prepared a special dog-friendly portion for us! MUMMY, YA DA BEST! Mummy prepared the Oven baked chicken with carrots and potatoes. The dog-friendly version was made using skinless and boneless chicken breast with a reduced amount of olive oil. In addition, Mummy sprinkled some parsley on ours for some breath-benefit (*glances at Pecan*). She also cooked it for a shorter time since the portion was smaller and she didn’t want the breast meat to be too dry.  We were waiting patiently for our dinner. However, ah-ma was so excited about dinner that Daddy had …

Made With Love – Dehydrated chicken treats!

While most days I sigh at the loss of my only child status, there are times when I’m really glad that Pecan’s in our family.  And today is one of them!!! Cuz Mummy made us dehydrated chicken treats!  Wheeeeeeeeeeeee…. (Mummy enjoys making things for us, just that a lot of it goes to waste in the past as she doesn’t quite want me to finish everything and become too fat. Boo. Now there’s Pecan to share the yummy food!) Tadah~ Waiting to eat…  Stupid Mummy tempting us… Arggggggh… As both of us are able to offer Mummy extremely firm sits on most days, she decided to up the ante and requested for ‘Paw’ instead.  Here. And of course, we got what we deserved!  It was so delicious that we finished it immediately.  More more more…

Made with Love – Parsley, Cheese & Carrot Dog Biscuits!

Inspired by Pecan’s horrid breath, Mummy wanted to make some treats that can help combat the odour. And when she came home today with a bag of ingredients, we started to get pretty excited.  Can’t help but wonder what Mummy had up her sleeves. As Mummy did not have her recipe books on hand, she simply googled Parsley treats for dogs and settled on the very first recipe she found! PS: Parsley is great for managing bad breath in dogs! Let’s get started! Here’s what she used: – Oats, Multi-purpose floor, cheddar cheese, carrots and of course, the star of the evening – Parsley. Mummy also found some silicon trays (two from Amazon and the others from Giant) that she could use to bake the cookies in. (Oh ya, Mummy used chicken stock instead of lactose-free milk) Being the senior, I was well aware of the baking procedure and was ready to go take a nap while waiting. But silly Pecan, being new and overly enthusiastic, decided to offer Mummy some help. Thankfully Mummy declined …

I am a Bread Dog!

What do you do with a slice of expired bread?  Toss it away? Nay… you use it to kajiao (disturb) your dog. 1. Use a circular cookie cutter to cut a perfect circle in the middle of the bread slice. 2. Lure your dog to put his snout through the huge hole.  3. Tadah~ You have a BREAD DOG! Hi, i am Sam, the bread dog. Mummy couldn’t stop laughing at how my whole face blended with the wholemeal bread.  Duh. PS: No dog was harmed, in fact, Mr Sammy Loo (which is me) received one too many treats for his good efforts. Plus, it was a ‘one-time-okay’ attempt and only one slice of bread was used. Most importantly, no filter or photoshop was used!

New Sheets!!

After what seems like forever, mummy finally got around to getting me new sheets for my Wanmock! Okay, I approve! What’s not to like when it’s my favourite colour and has a lame comic!  So me. *Wriggles butt* Mummy decided to use a “M” size shirt that Daddy bought from Bangkok. (Poor daddy had to sacrifice  a tee for me, but again, too bad lor~) It’s a great fit and the sheets are tight and taut, making it alot more comfortable to lay on. At least my fat backside isn’t sinking this time round.  *Pleased grinz* Okay, enough for now. I want to sleep.  Leave me alone.

My origami pet dogs!

Grandma bought me a really cute book from the kids section of a bookstore – Doggie Divas Origami. Honestly, the cover of the book was too princessy and off-putting that I was a bit like ‘huh’ when I first got it (Mummy agrees). Despite the cover, we were both quite intrigued by the contents as this interesting read actually demonstrates how to fold origami dogs!  It even provides readers with pattern paper to fold specific dog breeds. There is also a sheet of stickers for you to customise your canines. Hee, you can choose eye colours for them! Mummy told me that I get to keep whatever I manage to fold as my pets. Hence, I was really excited and started examining the instructions right away.  I attempted to make myself a Schnauzer. Despite my nimble paws, my first try was a total flop.  My Schnauzer looked more like an elephant.  Boohoo~  Seeing how upset I was, Mummy stepped in and helped. And I did my part as the crafting duo by providing eye support.  …
