My last week in New York… (Part I)

This is officially my last week in NYC. My parents are moving back home to Singapore. And yap, I’m moving from the Big Apple to the little red dot half way round the globe.  Anyway, since it’s my last week, mummy decided to make it a special week and bring me to places in the city that I frequent and love. Hence, I’m going to share my final few adventures in the city over the next few days.  We hopped on the train on a lovely winter day to…. Union Square Park!!! Actually, mummy wanted to visit the Christmas market there. So she ended up dragging me, daddy and grandmummy there.  But hey, I’m not complaining..  because… It’s a squirrel heaven! Woohoo~~~ Dang.. check out how fat the well-fed squirrels are.. *drools* So I embarked on my hunting spree and was busy squirrel hunting. Nope, not here… How about here?  nope…  After a good ten minutes of futile challenging squirrel hunting, we decided to head into the market. The market was so crowded that daddy decided …

Day at Prospect Park…

Mummy and Daddy brought me to the Food Truck Rally at Prospect Park last month. Initially I thought I would get tons of yummy food since it was after all a food truck rally. However, despite tons of begging with my cute little paws, I got barely anything!! Boo~ Just when I thought it was a waste of my time being dragged along for a food truck rally WITHOUT being given much food, we chanced upon the Long Meadow Dog Beach at Prospect Park. And the fun begins~~~ Fearlessly decided to swim to the edge of the fence… But realised that the water is a tad bit too deep and decided to turn back.. Almost there… Phew~ finally back on shore.. Decided to venture a little more, made a new friend and did tons of sniffing. After a good round of sniffing and waddling, it was time to go home. (BOO~) So I decided to do a magnificent leap out of the dog beach. I was a pretty happy wet dog by the end of …

Family day out…

My family spent the weekend at Washington DC. The original itinerary was to join the Cesar Milan Pack Walk, but since my brilliant parents overslept, we decided to head to an outdoor flea market instead (Officially Mummy’s newest hobby).  We headed to Eastern Market  to spend our lovely saturday afternoon. It was really nice out, but the sun was a tad bit bright that I couldn’t stop squinting my little eyes. We did some shopping at the Capitol Hill Flea Market.  (Hee, surprisingly shopaholic mummy left empty handed while stingy thrifty daddy bought a couple of cigar boxes.) Mummy’s failed attempt at an artistic shot. Just chilling out while daddy was shopping for his stuff.  Met some new friends. Hee, I’m generally a submissive dog and would roll over for most dogs. The owner of the other dog was so impressed with me that he commented that I was a really good dog and that the world needs more dogs like me! *GRINZ* From the corner of my eye, I could see mummy scoffing away though.  …

The Flower dog…

I attended my very first wedding. As I was specially flown to San Jose to meet Mummy’s HK relatives, including the bride (see, I’m THAT important), I was actually given a flower corset.  Yap, I get special treatments. =D Posing in front of the church where the lovely ceremony took place.  (Spot the bow tie mummy got from Target the night before!) A quick shot after the ceremony ended. And lastly, a “Sam as Puss-in-boots” shot. We had several photos taken with the bride, unfortunately, there are all with the professional photographer. I’ll upload them if I can get my paws on them.

One little hike..

Since we covered the beach on our June trip to the west coast, my parents decided to embark on a different adventure this time and chose to go for a nice little hike.  After some research, Daddy found a nice trail at the Pearson Arastradero Preserve. As not all trails are dog friendly, we had to drive a little further to get to one. But it sure was worth it! Lucky for me, the weather was awesome. Impatiently waiting for Daddy to grab a map at the visitors’ centre. After selecting the trail, off we went.  (Hee, grandmummy came along and she sure was well prepared to prevent getting tanned.) The view was just breath-taking. (And the smells were great too.) The trail we went on was shared by cyclists, foot hikers and even equestrian hikers! We were overtaken by a horse midway. That was quite a sight. Stupid mummy just had to get a family photo. -_- Of course, I was too distracted to even pose. Sigh, everyone else is just too slow for …

Where was I?

I was on vacation~ kinda..  I flew to San Jose and attended Mummy’s cousin’s wedding! (And yes, I slept sat through a church wedding!) Hee, we stayed at Hyatt House at San Jose which was super dog friendly and I got tons of treats (nom nom nom~) and love! Anyway, now that we are finally back in NYC, I’ll update the photos soon!

Hot hot hot…

Hot summer days are here. And yes, it sucks. BUT that doesn’t mean that dogs can’t have fun!  Here’s the secret to having fun despite the heat! 1. Keep smiling. Happy thoughts keep you cool~ 2. Drink tons and TONs and TONS of water.  3. Find a covered cool spot and have a yummy picnic.  4. Hang out with close friends and just chat the afternoon away! Introducing Keyser!  5. Play your favorite game! That makes me a happy boy despite the heat!  So, Bring it on, summer!

A hot hot HOT place called Vegas..

The last leg of our west coast vacation was at Las Vegas as Daddy had to attend a work convention there.  Vegas? Me no like. Firstly, Vegas wasn’t as dog friendly as California was – no dog park along the strip, not welcomed indoors, no grass for me to run on! Secondly, I’m underage. No booze, no gambling. BOO. Thirdly, the weather was insanely warm! My poor little paws were burning, no thanks to the heat!  Sigh. Due to the crazy heat, my parents decided to walk along the strip around 8pm, kinda thinking that as the sun sets, the weather would improve. Sadly, it didn’t exactly help as we were all still melting from the heat. Anyway, we managed to stop by Bellagio just in time to catch the water show.  It was pretty spectacular, but I wasn’t exactly fond of the loud blasting sound. After enjoying the show, we walked along the strip and found a wishing fountain that resembled the Trevi Fountain in Rome. I tossed a little coin in, wishing for good …

Another awesome reason why I love the west coast!

While shopping @ Westfield Century City Mall in Santa Monica, LA, we came along the most awesome thing – a treat dispenser cum water fountain! How amazing is that? Unlimited treats for dogs and fountains of varying height! So thoughtful! I just wanted to munch on the yummy milk biscuit, but stupid mummy insisted that I pose to show my appreciation. What rubbish. After even more begging, I was finally awarded the yummy milkbone! Just making sure that no crumbs was left behind. That’s just another awesome reason why I love the west coast~

Dog-Mazing San Diego..

San Diego is amazing beyond words. It’s uber dog friendly and I’m loving every moment of being here. In fact, once I get back to NYC, I’m gonna pack my little bag and move over here for good. (Okay, mummy is glaring at me now. Guess it’s not gonna happen. Boo.) Anyway, my parents decided to do some window shopping and managed to find a dog friendly mall, Otay Ranch Town Center. And boy were we in a pleasant surprise when we got there! There’s actually a dog park within the shopping area! Yipeee~ The whole area is also dog friendly (I was allowed in most stores) and there were several dogipot pet stations located around the mall. We were even more surprised when we found the dog park. It’s BIG and GRASSY! (*does a little wriggly dance*) The wall art is actually little paw paint prints of dogs that frequent the park! Too clever. The big dog area is nice and big.  Unfortunately, the small dog area is a little pathetic, but thankfully the …
