Day at Prospect Park…

Mummy and Daddy brought me to the Food Truck Rally at Prospect Park last month. Initially I thought I would get tons of yummy food since it was after all a food truck rally. However, despite tons of begging with my cute little paws, I got barely anything!! Boo~ Just when I thought it was a waste of my time being dragged along for a food truck rally WITHOUT being given much food, we chanced upon the Long Meadow Dog Beach at Prospect Park. And the fun begins~~~ Fearlessly decided to swim to the edge of the fence… But realised that the water is a tad bit too deep and decided to turn back.. Almost there… Phew~ finally back on shore.. Decided to venture a little more, made a new friend and did tons of sniffing. After a good round of sniffing and waddling, it was time to go home. (BOO~) So I decided to do a magnificent leap out of the dog beach. I was a pretty happy wet dog by the end of …

Family day out…

My family spent the weekend at Washington DC. The original itinerary was to join the Cesar Milan Pack Walk, but since my brilliant parents overslept, we decided to head to an outdoor flea market instead (Officially Mummy’s newest hobby).  We headed to Eastern Market  to spend our lovely saturday afternoon. It was really nice out, but the sun was a tad bit bright that I couldn’t stop squinting my little eyes. We did some shopping at the Capitol Hill Flea Market.  (Hee, surprisingly shopaholic mummy left empty handed while stingy thrifty daddy bought a couple of cigar boxes.) Mummy’s failed attempt at an artistic shot. Just chilling out while daddy was shopping for his stuff.  Met some new friends. Hee, I’m generally a submissive dog and would roll over for most dogs. The owner of the other dog was so impressed with me that he commented that I was a really good dog and that the world needs more dogs like me! *GRINZ* From the corner of my eye, I could see mummy scoffing away though.  …

ABCD…

Mummy and Daddy were chit chatting with Uncle Nick and Auntie Rachel over dinner one day and they were discussing about weird interesting names of people they met over the years. Daddy mentioned that there were people with english names like Carat, Circle, Control.. (like seriously?! I wouldn’t even name a dog that). This was when Auntie Rachel mentioned that she once met a Hong Kong counterpart called ABCD (pronounced as Ab-cee-dee). Everyone was super fascinated and couldn’t stop laughing.. I was also ROFL-ing when mummy had a *ta-da* moment and insisted that ABCD would have been an awesome name for me. (Say what~~~~~~) Her rationale… ABCD = American Born Chinese Dog, which is pretty much me. She really wanted to change my name to that. (I am NOT kidding.) Luckily Daddy is sane enough to say no.  I’m also uber thankful Daddy named me Sam before mummy got wind of the name. (PHEW~) Can you imagine people checking out my name tags the first time we meet? I could totally picture the eye rollings …

Sam’s vintage suitcase dog bed…

My fabulous parents spent their whole saturday making me my very own vintage suitcase dog bed! Crafty mummy and handyman daddy turned this green suitcase.. Into this amazing dog bed! From this fugly green lining, that was really dirty and smelly (tho I kinda liked the smell..). Into this fabulous dog print lining! I did a test run… by tossing… and turning..  and requested for the bed to be shifted near the window… before, stamping my paw of approval. Thank you Daddy and Mummy!!

Sam the water dog…

Okay, Jack Russells weren’t exactly bred for swimming, but since most dogs are born natural swimmers, Mummy decided to get me started on swimming. (Might have been the olympic fever~) While we had been to the beach several times, I wasn’t exactly interested in swimming, more in chasing the waves and getting my paws (only) wet. Thus, I wasn’t that thrilled when I heard about mummy’s plans, but well, I’m always up for a challenge! So, bring it on~ Mummy found an indoor swimming pool just for dogs. The place is called Water4Dogs and provides social/open swims (for up to 6 dogs), rehabilitation sessions, exercise sessions and even fun sessions (private for just 1 dog). In addition, unlike human swimming pools where the water is treated with chlorine, the pool is treated with UV to kill the germs, making it safer for the dogs. We started off with a single exercise session with a therapist to evaluate if I’m suitable for swimming. (I have a luxating patella, but a real mild case.) After an exhausting 30 …

One little hike..

Since we covered the beach on our June trip to the west coast, my parents decided to embark on a different adventure this time and chose to go for a nice little hike.  After some research, Daddy found a nice trail at the Pearson Arastradero Preserve. As not all trails are dog friendly, we had to drive a little further to get to one. But it sure was worth it! Lucky for me, the weather was awesome. Impatiently waiting for Daddy to grab a map at the visitors’ centre. After selecting the trail, off we went.  (Hee, grandmummy came along and she sure was well prepared to prevent getting tanned.) The view was just breath-taking. (And the smells were great too.) The trail we went on was shared by cyclists, foot hikers and even equestrian hikers! We were overtaken by a horse midway. That was quite a sight. Stupid mummy just had to get a family photo. -_- Of course, I was too distracted to even pose. Sigh, everyone else is just too slow for …

My family photoshoot

Since we were moving back to Singapore pretty soon, Mummy decided to organize a photoshoot for our family to capture our NYC adventure. It was a fun but exhausting experience. I was pooped by the time we got home. The photographer, Melissa from beIMAGED was awesome! (Hee, I got tons of yummy treats just by looking at her.) We finally received the hard copy of all the photographs and I’ve selected some of my best shots to showcase.  We started from Central Park.  My favorite spot in Central Park – The Ramble.  Moved on to Times Square. Possibly my favorite shot – Hugs & kisses. Before finding a lovely street in Soho. Sigh, I’m such a good looking dog. =P Check out more lovely shots here.
