Pet Expo 2015

Hehehe, the most exciting weekend for pooches living in Singapore is here!  ‘Cos it’s PET EXPO 2015. And we went a little cray-cray there today. #justalittlecraycray #ourloot #pleasedonottelldaddy  Yap, Mummy is THAT obsessed with us. As we wanted to beat the crowd (parking woes especially), Mummy decided to bring us there on the first day.  We waited patiently (not) while Mummy went to collect our tickets. #barelycontainingourexcitement This was Pecan ah ma’s first Pet Expo and she was loving it.  #thetailsaysitall As for me, (I was here last year to help Mummy out with her work then) I’m loving how much bigger the fair is this time round. Not only are there more exhibitors, the variety has increased! #gotsparkleinmyeyekindaexcitinglor We started by taking a look at the whole place and planning where to drag Mummy to. #thatisourgameface Of course, our first stop just had to be…. the Tiny Krew Booth!  To meet the love of my life – Jager!!!!! Hehehehehhee!  I missed him so much la. #pecanonlywantedtodrinkfromhiswaterbowl #shenocareabouthim Once we said our “His” and exchanged …

A day of Lure Coursing!

We finally met the adorable Westies (Klaus, Jasser and Koros, brothers from the same litter!) from the Wooga gang! But this was no simple meet-and-greet…. this was actually an awesome Lure Coursing Session!! #paiseh #icannottellwhoiswho If you’re wondering what lure coursing is (and is too lazy to click on the link above, tsk tsk tsk), it is actually a fast-paced chase sport for dogs.  Using a specialised machine, dogs will run after a ‘bunny’ lure (usually a white plastic bag), that is attached to a line controlled by the device. The machine will run the line and the dogs will chase the lure. Simple as that. Mummy was really excited when she first heard about it. After all, Jack Russell Terriers (like Westies) are hunting dogs and chasing after a prey is in our blood! So, of course she would love to give it a shot! Lucky for us, Auntie Ashley has an extremely cool lure machine! “Wiggley dance” And..we got to try it out today! Woohoo~ #auntieashleysidabest We had to be held back while …

Pets Magazine’s Breakfast & Breed

We love pet events. But nothing beats an event that is catered just for Jack Russell Terriers.  The Breakfast & Breed is a series of breakfast events organised by pets Magazine. This quarterly event is meant for dog owners to mingle around in an intimate setting and learn more about breed-related issues. A vet and a trainer are invited to discuss medical and training concerns. We were very excited when we found out that the chosen breed to kickstart the series was none other than us… the awesome Jack Russell Terrors. Erm, I meant terriers. Plus, it was held at one of our favourite pet cafes – Happenstance Cafe.  So, we just couldn’t say no when Mummy’s ex-colleagues invited us to grace the event. #wewillneversaynotofreefood Stupid Mummy almost couldn’t wake up and we were nearly late for the event. #mummyisnotamorningperson Thankfully, seats were allocated beforehand. We quickly settled down and waited patiently for the first talk to begin.  #treatsdowonders Auntie Kristina from Puppy Colours Academy (Pecan’s trainer) was invited to speak at the event too! …

Grooming Workshop @ Bubbly Petz

As JRTs are relatively low-maintanence dogs, our parents would send Pecan ah ma and myself to the groomer’s only once every three to four months.  Despite that, we do require a bit of home-grooming every now and then to look somewhat decent.  And as expected, the person who does it is none other than Mummy!  #atthemercyofmummy #whyshecutmyhairuntilsougly As adorable as we may seem, we ain’t the easiest dogs to self-groom.  On average, it takes Mummy about a good hour to trim our nails and brush our coats. Of course, all these take place with a fair amount of struggle and one too many treats to bribe us. #notreatsnogroom  Thus, when Mummy found out about Bubbly Petz’ grooming workshop, she decided to give it a try to see if she can learn to better manage us.  Since, two related persons are allowed to accompany one dog per registration slot, Mummy dragged Daddy along.  As I’m the better behaved one of the two (well, at least I would like to think so), I was sent as the …

Sam’s welcomed: Pet-friendly Ah B Cafe

After months and months of anticipation, the Ah B Cafe is finally opened! Woohoo~ If you’re wondering what it is, it’s actually a pet-friendly cafe that is located in Sunny Heights (where we swim every weekend).  As happy as we are, I think Mummy’s more excited. After all, there’s finally a nice place for her and Daddy to have brunch at before being dragged to the pool by us. The decor of the place is really simple and clean and we took to it immediately. Mummy’s really pleased that it’s extremely spacious too.  Although the washroom is outside, the cafe has a sink areas for the humans to wash their hands, making it really convenient. We quickly made ourselves at home. Besides the usual table and chairs, there’s a separate (shoes off) seating area that consists of comfy beanbags!  We even managed to fit into one. #Iamstuck #Iknowwhatyouarethinkingmummybutwedonotneedabeanbagathome Unfortunately, the food menu is kinda limiting and there weren’t many options. Plus, we were there a tad early and the soup Mummy wanted wasn’t ready. Nonetheless, …

Dog-friendly Staycation at Conrad!

Edited: Unfortunately, Conrad is no longer dog-friendly wef 1 August 2017. We’re heartbroken that we have one less staycation option, but at least we had a great time there.  Thanks again to all the Conrad staff that made our stay so memorable.  After having a blast at last year’s Capella Staycation, Mummy decided to make a dog-friendly staycation a yearly affair at the Loo Lim Household! woohoo~ #scored #thankgoodnessmummywearsthepantsinthishousehold #luckystingydaddyhasnosay As much as we would love to head back to the heavenly Capella, they do have a one-dog only policy (boo~) and we really don’t want to resort to smuggling Pecan ah ma in. (Especially since we ain’t the quietest dogs around when there’s a pool involved)  Hehehe.  Instead, we decided to head to a hotel that allows two dogs.  Unfortunately, we really don’t have many options.  In fact, there’s only two in Singapore – Hilton Singapore and Conrad Centennial Singapore. (They are actually under the same hotel chain) Both permit up to two dogs (weighing no more than a combined weight of 34kg) in …

Halloween @ Pawlicious Bakery!

I admit. I’ve a slight phobia of Halloween. Whenever I hear that the day is approaching, I pee a little in my (invisible) pants. And the reason is totally man-made. You see, on my very first Halloween, when I was a mere adorable, cuddly little nine month old puppy, my horrible stupid mummy thought it would be fun to dress me up. So she went to the stores and grabbed me … this. Apparently, stupid mummy didn’t get the memo that Halloween is two months BEFORE Christmas.  So, yap, I ended up being Santa’s unwilling helper for Halloween. #Mummyneedsacalendar As if it wasn’t bad enough, it was actually a matching outfit to Mummy’s Santa-rina outfit.  Yap, I was stuck in a tacky matching outfit with my mother. #ultimateloser #pleaseburnthesepictures Oh, and did I mention that she actually brought me to the Halloween Parade in the Village. And I got scared shitless by the zombies in the subway and started barking at them. And there was this guy in a shower curtain stained in blood. And …

Sam’s first media party – Wagging Rights Singapore

When Mummy received an e-invite for a media event of a doggie daycare, we just had to say yes! After all, it was my very first event as a guest. Wheeeeeeeeee… Though the invite was extended to Pecan ah ma too, unsure of what other dogs might be there, Mummy decided to leave her at home to be safe. Sorry ah ma! I’ll have fun on your behalf yo? Hehehe… So off we went to…. Wagging Rights! Located at Joo Chiat, Wagging Rights is a wellness destination for dogs that includes a full suite of amenities such as grooming, daycare, pet-sitting, a pet concierge service, and special programmes for puppies and lazy dogs in need of exercise (erm..sounds abit like me). #Iamnotfat #Iamjustbigboned And oh boy, this place is huge!  In fact, it’s bigger than our house! Besides the reception area, it actually has three separate spaces – the puppy space, the actual daycare space and the grooming room. #IneedricherparentstobuymeaBIGhouse We were brought to the daycare space where I was allowed off-leashed. And so, off …

Do Re Mi….

Introducing… Loo Lim Number 3, Bella! And so you think.. #yougotpunked #iamNOTsharingmyspacewithyetanotheroldlady We came across this adorable sweetheart when we popped by the Howlistic Life showroom to stock up on our Dear Deer kneecaps. Little Bella belongs to Auntie Pauline (the owner) and like us, is a Rough Coat JRT! And boy, was Mummy captivated.  Firstly, cutie Bella looks just like a combination of me and Pecan ah ma – she has my face and Pecan’s body! #iamstillthecutest And secondly, her temperament is amazing.  Although she is 11 years old (the same age of ah ma), she is calm and chill. Nothing like the crazy old granny we have at home. It’s no wonder Mummy was falling in love with her and kept offering to take her home. Of course, she had her ‘Crazy Dog lady’ face and voice on…. -_- Hello~~ we are still here yo~ #Mummycheatedonusrightinfrontofus She really does look like ah ma! And for a moment, Mummy thought that she actually found Pecan’s long lost sibling (since they are of the same …

Pecan’s first Dog Event – National Geographic Channel Free Pet Shop

After seeing Pecan ah ma’s success during our recent JRT hike, our parents decided to take yet another leap of faith.  They… *drum rolls*…brought ah ma to her very first dog event – The National Geographic Channel Free Pet Shop – that took place over the weekend at Big Splash! And yap, ah ma did amazing once again! She did not snap at a single dog and even proceeded to greet many of them!  Of course, our parents were still on high alert and made an effort to distract her when her posture got too tense and her tail started wagging a tad bit hard. She responded every single time!  Kudos old lady! Ah ma was in such high spirits that she couldn’t stop grinning throughout the event.   And I’m sure she was equally pleased to be enjoying a nice day out with many other canines! There weren’t as many commercial booths as Mummy would like and so we spent most of our time wandering around and meeting fellow doggie instagrammers! (Hi Donna! Hi …
