A day of Lure Coursing!

We finally met the adorable Westies (Klaus, Jasser and Koros, brothers from the same litter!) from the Wooga gang! But this was no simple meet-and-greet…. this was actually an awesome Lure Coursing Session!! #paiseh #icannottellwhoiswho If you’re wondering what lure coursing is (and is too lazy to click on the link above, tsk tsk tsk), it is actually a fast-paced chase sport for dogs.  Using a specialised machine, dogs will run after a ‘bunny’ lure (usually a white plastic bag), that is attached to a line controlled by the device. The machine will run the line and the dogs will chase the lure. Simple as that. Mummy was really excited when she first heard about it. After all, Jack Russell Terriers (like Westies) are hunting dogs and chasing after a prey is in our blood! So, of course she would love to give it a shot! Lucky for us, Auntie Ashley has an extremely cool lure machine! “Wiggley dance” And..we got to try it out today! Woohoo~ #auntieashleysidabest We had to be held back while …

Made with Love: Pumpkin-pork treats

After watching episode after episode of Cupcake Wars (yap, she indulges in trashy shows), Mummy developed an itch for baking.  So, naturally, that means more home made goodies for us! Wheeeeee~ #godblesstrashyrealitytv Introducing our very own Dog-friendly Pumpkin Pork Cookies! And trust us, it is outta the world! #lickspawsinsatisfaction  What you need: This makes about 80 cookies! (Yap, Mummy’s trying to kill us with cookies. But hey, we ain’t complaining.) 3 cups of wheat flour (replace this with a grain-free flour if your dog is prone to allergies) 1 egg 300g of lean pork One half of a pumpkin 2 tablespoons of parsley 1 tablespoon of coconut oil  Do keep some water and excess flour on hand too. And we shall not forget the most important tool of the day – dog-shaped cookie cutters from Muji! What to do: 1. Preheat oven to 175 Degree Celsius. 2. Cut both the pumpkin and lean pork meat into slices and boil till soft and cooked. 3. Blend the mixture into puree form. 4. Pour the puree, flour, …

Pets Magazine’s Breakfast & Breed

We love pet events. But nothing beats an event that is catered just for Jack Russell Terriers.  The Breakfast & Breed is a series of breakfast events organised by pets Magazine. This quarterly event is meant for dog owners to mingle around in an intimate setting and learn more about breed-related issues. A vet and a trainer are invited to discuss medical and training concerns. We were very excited when we found out that the chosen breed to kickstart the series was none other than us… the awesome Jack Russell Terrors. Erm, I meant terriers. Plus, it was held at one of our favourite pet cafes – Happenstance Cafe.  So, we just couldn’t say no when Mummy’s ex-colleagues invited us to grace the event. #wewillneversaynotofreefood Stupid Mummy almost couldn’t wake up and we were nearly late for the event. #mummyisnotamorningperson Thankfully, seats were allocated beforehand. We quickly settled down and waited patiently for the first talk to begin.  #treatsdowonders Auntie Kristina from Puppy Colours Academy (Pecan’s trainer) was invited to speak at the event too! …

Work-in-Progress

Kudos to Mummy for finally creating our very own Facebook page! #waituntilnecklonglongliao #pleasegiveusyoursupportwor Now that it is off our to-do list. The next thing inefficient mummy  we have to get around doing… is.. giving our blog a fresh look!  Unfortunately, Mummy is no where close to being an expert in this field. Le Sigh~ #peopletakefiveminutesshetakesfivehours  So, please bear with us as we work on refreshing the blog!

Made with Love: Blueberry Ice Cream

It’s been a while since Mummy made us something. So, she decided to whip a yummy dessert to combat the heat! It’s none other than… Blueberry Ice Cream for dogs! #mummycannotplateforherlife #ittastedbetterthanitlooked #mummypretendingtobeadessertchef #failla It was a real simple fix and required only a handful of ingredients. What you need: 2 cups of plain/greek yoghurt 1 box of fresh blueberries 1 teaspoon of honey 1 piece of dehydrated pork/beef/chicken jerky Checking out the ingredients and giving it our sniff of approval. As neither me and Pecan ah ma are fans of fruits, Mummy decided to incorporate some blueberries to trick us into eating them.  Besides having antioxidants, they can also help with cognitive functions for older dogs. #senileahmaneedstoeattonsofblueberries #sucksthatwegotoutsmartbymummy What to do: 1. Puree the blueberries using a blender (Do set aside some as garnish) 2. Using a mixer, mix the yoghurt and honey together.  3. Add the pureed blueberries and mix thoroughly. 4. If you have an ice cream maker like us (we have a Cuisinart), pour the mixture into the maker and churn for …

Happy 5th Barkday to Sammy Loo!

Yap, it’s the time of the year once again. Little Sammy has grown one year wiser. To celebrate my bark day this year, Mummy decided to gift me not one, not two, but FIVE pressies (one for each year of my life!)!!! Wheeeeeeee~ #omgomgomgomgomgOMG #ofcoursethebudgetcamefromdaddy #nopehedidntgivewillingly To kickstart the celebrations, Mummy got us customised hats from The Lil’ Rascals! Now, we are in the right party mood~ Woohoo~ Bring the presents on!!!!!! A customised Birthday Cake from Pawlicious Bakery! There’s no birthday without a birthday cake! Hehe, since we had their signature fondant figurines for our Barkday last year (fyi: the figurines are still intact and sitting around in the house!), we decided to change things up a little. So, Mummy got Auntie Jaster to illustrate us doing our favourite activity in the world –  rescuing drowning toys! We sent Auntie Jaster a reference pic like this: And she came up with this awesome cake!!! #ohmygawd #ahmaiswearingabikini #samisrockingboardshorts We’re totally loving it. Okay la. I think Mummy loved it more than we did.  We just wanted …

Grooming Workshop @ Bubbly Petz

As JRTs are relatively low-maintanence dogs, our parents would send Pecan ah ma and myself to the groomer’s only once every three to four months.  Despite that, we do require a bit of home-grooming every now and then to look somewhat decent.  And as expected, the person who does it is none other than Mummy!  #atthemercyofmummy #whyshecutmyhairuntilsougly As adorable as we may seem, we ain’t the easiest dogs to self-groom.  On average, it takes Mummy about a good hour to trim our nails and brush our coats. Of course, all these take place with a fair amount of struggle and one too many treats to bribe us. #notreatsnogroom  Thus, when Mummy found out about Bubbly Petz’ grooming workshop, she decided to give it a try to see if she can learn to better manage us.  Since, two related persons are allowed to accompany one dog per registration slot, Mummy dragged Daddy along.  As I’m the better behaved one of the two (well, at least I would like to think so), I was sent as the …

We got Mail – from Chewtime!

It’s not everyday that something interesting comes through the mailbox. It’s usually bills after bills or flyers after flyers of property that my parents cannot afford. #ineedricherparents Oh, and of course the occasional summons (hehehehehe…). Yawn~ But today, there was special something.  There was a postage for…. me and Pecan ah ma! Wheeeeeee~~ We did a quick sniff test to decipher the package. #placeyourbets We couldn’t quite guess what it was. But one thing is for sure.  It contained something edible! #ahmaalreadydrooledonthepackage  It was bully sticks from Chew Time! We actually took part in a Facebook Giveaway and won these! Heeheehee… I couldn’t take my eyes off it even while photo taking.  As for Pecan ah ma, she was a little unsure what it was. #pecanahmaisafroginawell Staying focused. Once Mummy handed them to us, I immediately took it to my mat and started gnawing on it.  #samatwork Ah ma, on the other hand, didn’t really know what to do with it and started trotting around the house, unsure of what to do with it.  After …

Conversation btw Husband and Wife

Mummy: (Pissed off face) “Did you know you tried to kill the dogs in your sleep yesterday?” Daddy: “Huh?” Mummy: “First, you rolled on Sam. YOUR ENTIRE WEIGHT ON SAM. Then you kicked Pecan off the bed. Hard. I heard her yelp when she fell off the bed.” Daddy: (Grinning) “HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA..  YESH!” We knew Daddy isn’t very fond of us.  Just didn’t realise he wanted us dead. -_- Now we are concerned. #needtostartapetitiontogetdaddyoffthebed

Here comes 2015!

Yap, yet another year has come and gone. There were some ups and downs in 2014, but overall, I think we did pretty alright.  So, we are hoping that 2015 will treat us equally well, if not better.  What better way to kick start the new year than to conform to the norm… by setting New Year Resolutions! Creativity at its best…not. #samandpecanonthebandwagon #lightbulbmoment Here goes… 1. Stop Lao-sai-ing (diarrhoea) Sad to say, both me and Pecan ah ma have been having non-stop runs for the past 1.5weeks.  Sigh~ It’s like a Merlion out of our butts.  #mybacksidepainliao #ahmashitslikesheisvomittingoutofherarse After Mummy’s failed home-remedies (pumpkin, boiled chicken and brown rice did nothing to help), she gave in and brought us to the vet.  So, the two of us are currently on ID food and a strict no-treats diet. Not to mention yucky meds. Sigh. What a shitty way to celebrate the new year.  #bekindtoourbutts So…please please please… GO AWAY STUPID STOMACH BUGS! PS: Thanks Auntie Lynne for the unglam photo -_- 2. Go for another dog-friendly …
